Congratulations! How funny that Lily and Iris were the two final ones. Guess she was meant to be a Kappa! Please let us know the code and where she is a Kappa.

Same here about wearing everything but the crest before initiation. Of course, alum and I are from the same era, but I don't think things have changed with that rule.

Owls, keys, fleurs-de-lis, irises, sapphires, and dark and light blue will all catch your eye from now on--have fun being a Kappa mom!

I was at Michael's yesterday, and there were these charms by the beads by the strands, an owl, a key, and a fleur-de-lis, all right next to each other!

Congratulations to your daughter and Kappa Kappa Gamma!

What a great happy ending! Congratulations to your daughter and Kappa Kappa Gamma!

YAY for your daughter and KAPPA KAPPA GAMMA!!!!

Army Wife'79 01-27-2008 04:45 PM

Yay, congratulations. Now go buy cool gifts for her and send irises. When my D was initiated (down South) the girls all received bouquets from their parents at the ceremony. Luckily, someone had clued me in on that tradition; I would have been horrified if she had been the only one w/o flowers!

Congratulations to your daughter and I'm so happy to welcome her to our sisterhood!

Congrats to your daughter and Kappa Kappa Gamma!

AFAIK, the only official fraternity ruling on wearing letters/insignia/Coat of Arms is that the badge cannot be worn by an uninitiated member. Everything else is fair game, though some chapters may have "traditions" of waiting until initiation to wear letters/CoA.

Also check out www.buykappa.com. That's the official Kappa merchandiser; there's lots of neat stuff on there! :D

YAY! I'm so glad your daughter is a Kappa Kappa Gamma! I'm obviously biased, but I think Kappa is an amazing organization.

I definitely agree with all the suggestions about buying flowers, etc. I was so pleased to come back to my dorm room after my first DG chapter meeting as a new member and see a bouquet of cream-colored roses!! Especially since my parents weren't Greek, I knew they had to do some research to see if sororities even had specific flowers associated with them.

Congrats to your daughter and KKG!

I'm a kappa too, I think I got initiated around the same time as your daughter :) But my school does fall rush, and I did informal in the spring. But CONGRATS! I love it!

kappa_dancer 09-01-2008 11:27 PM

Well, I'm very late, but all I can say is YAY FOR KAPPA KAPPA GAMMA!!

I was probably initiated around the same time as your daughter, too. I was a Spring pledge at my school. =]
