The songs that stir up emotions in me are:

"With or Without You" by U2
I've basically been love with this one girl for about 3 years now. I've never acted on it entirely - we kissed twice, but that's it. We've always been plagued by bad timing, or geography. But this Song reminds me of how I feel about her, not to mention we'd danced to it together, and sang it to one another. she's the type of girl that has caused me never to be serious about anyone else, because no matter what - they're not as good as her - because they're not her.

"Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton
This is another song that reminds me of Mary Katherine - that's her name. It was this PJ-motiff dance we had, and this was my favorite song of the time - I'd always said I wanted to her this song while falling in Love. I found someone with the CD and got it to take to the dance. I accidently left it, and about 45 minutes later ran back to the dorm to get it. I did, and I had it dedicated to her. She told me it was also her favorite song, and we sang to one another. Talking about all this is making me even fall in love again, harder.

"Spoon" by DMB
This Song was played at a concert by some of my friends and it was the first time I'd heard it - this was also three years ago. About 200 kids were sitting on the great lawn in front of this Library at Centre College in Ky, and this other girl who is just an amazing person and I danced to it, in front of all those people sitting on blankets!

We were entirely alone, and she is the type of Girl also that I could so easily fall in Love with - and it's not so much the words, the tone in which the song is sang is what evokes the emotions.

And How Could I forget "Kissing You" by Des'ree

I made my sister listen to this - and she liked it so much that she used it as the song her and her hubby danced to on their wedding night

It's from Romeo & Juliet
and it is amazing, it reminds everyone of anyone they ever cared for, or care for

All songs, except for one by Papa Roach.
They don't sugar coat!

Tight Rope, has the most significance to me,
because I am always walking on thin line between what is good and what is evil. Most of us do, in fact.

The 2 songs that have the most significance to me are
1. Time of your life--- by Green Day, b/c it was played at the end of cheer camp the last year i cheered, and u can apply to anything else you're going through in your life, its always possible to get teary-eyed w/ that song.
2. I will remember you---by Sarah Machlachlan(SP), it's our senior song(hs)and one of our teachers, who has an AMAZING voice, is singing it at graduation *sniffle, sniffle*

"Kissing You" is so beautiful! I may have to steal that idea.

"One" from U2. "Respect" from Erasure is another.

"Oh what a night". Makes me think of formal.

I remember another song by Mariah Cary that always takes me back to a XO formal I went to once. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Most of Pearl Jams Greatest, Nirvana, Alice in Chains and STP take me back to my days as an active.

When I was little my parents in okinawa used to have this certin kind of stereo. They use to play these songs over and over. The Beegees, The Village People, The Eagles, Moody Blues, John Denver, and Ann Margaret? stand out in my mind as a few. Esp. when theyd have parties. The stereo is outdated now but it had all kinds of seventies(late) hits and whenever I hear them it takes me back to the days when I was on that island. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I think the song is called "Angel" or "in the Arms of an Angel" by Sarah McLaughlin. It is significant because the morning after the Swissair Flight 111 went down a in a little cove near us, the radio was all about the recovery (my dad was there to help and we got the phone call a couple of minutes after it was confirmed a plane went down, so I had been up most of the night knowing what had happend). Since I was a media monitor at the time, I had to listen to six hours, back to back, of local coverage about the tragedy. When I turned on the "rock" station after my monitoring they were talking about it there too. But then the music had to go on and they had a new song by McLaughlin and in it the lyrics go "In the arms of an Angel, may you fly away from here" I broke down at work and now everytime I think of that song, I think of the 229 people who died and those that had to recover the bodies and personnel stuff, as they will forever be scared by those images.

"There's a danger of loving someone so much...When you know your heart won't be touched...There's a reason why people change so much..."

arghhh thatsong is so sad and good...I cried yesterday when it playd. Too bad I don't know who it's by!

Patty Smyth. I LOVE THAT SONG. She sang it with that guy from the Eagles. Oh shoot what's his name. Anyways. I remember that song because it just simplified how love is awesome but dangerous.

How about the song that goes like this:

"ooh, ooh, I wanna fly so high..." It's sung by a female, but don't know who exactly!

It was played at the Last Dance a couple of days ago...what an awesome song!!!!!!!!

gammazetagrl 06-04-2001 11:57 PM

Holler by Spice Girls--lol, not exactly the most romantic song, but it became my ex's and i's song because we joked about the lyrics a lot although we appreciated its beat and melody n stuff...and the lyrics!

Stay by Destiny's Child-when I had those there-might-be-trouble feelings w/ our relationship I knew this would be the perfect breakup song. I listened to it for 2 days after we broke up. "if i loved u a lil bit longer/if our love was a lil bit stronger/would u stay,stay?/baby pls stay/if i granted all of your wishes/gave u more than touches n kisses/would u stay,stay?/i need u to stay"

Closing Time by Semisonic-this was played during his semi formal as the last song and we were just dancing in each other's arms... *Sigh*

Wonderful Tonight (some old song)-we slowdanced to this in his formal and he whispered how he loved me.

okay i better shut up before i start crying =)

For that girl you want to be with:
311 - "Sweet"
DMB - "Crush" (i mean seriously)
Chris Isaak - "Pretty girls don't cry" (amazing song)

For the girl you are with:
Unwritten Law - "Cailin"
Bob Marley - "Guava Jelly"
Louis Armstrong - "I get ideas" (i think i said that earlier, but whatever - best song ever written)

For when you're by yourself:
OAR - "Ran away to the top of the world"
Unwritten Law - "Holiday" (for a pick-me-up)
Bob Marley - "Three Little Birds"
Sublime - "Romeo" (the chorus is "I am a Romeo with no place to go" - that's definitely a 'dumped' song!)

Rudey 06-05-2001 04:58 AM

KSig definitely nailed a couple great songs. But dude, I don't know if I would use Cailin on a girl I was trying to get. It sorta talks about the end of something: "Well it seemed like yesterday...". It is definitely a quality song and my friends and I heard it when we stopped off at a diner on a road trip we took. It was cool because it was such a weird time. Everyone was breaking up with each other before college and none of us really had any huge commitments to anything that summer, so it brings back memories.

Also a couple other songs.
Live - Lightning Crashes
One time it came on the radio and everyone knew all the words, so we turned into a 10 member chorus in front of our then girlfriends.

Live - I alone. It brings back memories of hanging out with one of my old girlfriends just as friends. The relationship ended but we really did care for each other after.

REM - Losing My Religion. This is my sad song. This is the song I listened to repeatedly after I got dumped for my best bud in 9th grade.

Verve - Freshmen. This is just one of those songs that was popular and just really cool.

Jill Scott - All her songs are awesome and I recommend them because they're sorta poetry/ sorta r&b...it's hard to explain. She's the original voice in the Roots' You got me before Eryka Badu got in on it. But love rain is the song to play while with a girl and One if you just broke up.

Harmony_13 06-08-2001 01:18 PM

I love Losing my religion! I think I was in the seventh or eight grade when I first heard that song.
Rudey, I'm so feeling you on Jill Scott. I listen to her cd just about every day. The songs I listen to the most are A Long Walk and He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat).
When I first got the cd, my seven year old sister heard me play it so much in one night, she knew the songs within the next two days! LOL
