Another good site is Bare Necessities. You can put in your size, and it will show over twenty brand names, and their styles.

slight hijack-

I've not been measured since I had kids, but I'm pretty sure that now my right side is a full cup bigger than my left. (Sucks, BTW.) Does anyone here know of any place that offers bras to handle such an irregular... irregularity?

end hijack

Absolutely agree. Victoria's Secret bras are pure crap...cheaply and poorly made, and ridiculously overpriced for the low quality.

I used to purchase all of my bras from there, because that was where everyone else I knew shopped. But after the underwires popped out, the cups started losing their shape, the straps started losing their elasticity on all of my bras after maybe 2-3 months of wear, I swore I'd never purchase another bra from VS again.

(And I take good care of my undergarments too...handwash, drip dry. Its not like I washed them in the heavy duty cycle and then dried them on high heat!)

P.S. I have a terrible time finding bras that fit properly too - 36 D (though since having my children I'm hovering close to a DD). I'd agree with whoever said that its harder to find a decent D in a smaller band size than 38. (Well, unless you're willing to pay an arm and a leg for a bra, or to purchase a crappy VS bra.)

I refuse to by VS bras anymore because of this. I had one bright pink one I didn't wear too often due to the color. I owned it for about 6 months and wore it 3-4 times in that time frame and the underwire popped out. I took it back and the store manager gave me such grief about the return. He was such an a-hole. I've just started ordering from bravissimo and they have an excellent customer service department. They are pretty pricey since the pounds to dollar conversion isn't great right now, but for a bra that fits well and is good quality it's worth it. I'd rather have 3-4 really good bras then 10 crappy ones.

I'm wear a large cup myself and before Victoria Secret, I usually have to buy ugly bras or in other words "Granny or Mom bras". (I invented the term after granny panties and Mom Jeans). Another scenario is when I found some attracting bras, they are cheap and not in good quality.

I have to say, a few of the VS bras I have really have held up. I'm too lazy to handwash them, but I do drip dry. Maybe it's the style that I got-nothing fancy, b/c I'm not paying that much just for a basic everyday bra. Then again a few I have seem to have lost their cup shape. It's like I've lost weight and now there is too much room in them, so the cup isn't full. You know? Anyway, I'll be checking out your suggestions.

For the 32 DDs out there-it is a hard size to find, so if you find it, buy 5! If you have the time to look, TJ Maxx has some good ones. Oh and for sports bras (D or DD), I recommend Champion. You can find them on sale at a dept. store like Macys.

I think VS bras stretch out more than others. They completely lose their shape like you said. I used to only buy VS until I discovered that there are other bras that are like $10 more but hold up a lot better.

I completely agree with that.

And this thread has been SO helpful to me. Thank you all for your suggestions!

Thanks for the Bare Necessities suggestion! They even tell you how many hooks run down the back (which is a big deal to me b/c I don't want it to look like I'm wearing armor!!)

You're welcome - I think the last 10 bras I bought were from there. And, they let you know when the sales are good.

That's a fit problem - you're probably in the wrong cup size. Quadra-boob should never happen if the bra fits right.

Agreed. I finally had a real fitting by someone other than a salesgirl at VS (the WORST fitters ever, btw. Once I was told that a 34DD is the same bra as a 36D. That's just not true.) I found out I was a larger cup size than I thought and a smaller band size.

adpiucf 05-17-2007 04:01 PM

so true-- the only thing that comes from dropping a cup size and going up a band size is discomfort! If that were the case-truly-- then someone who wore a 36A should be able to wear a 34B and by VS's warped logic-- a 32C!

I know, it's such flawed logic but I believed them for awhile! The thing is so many women take anything a VS salesgirl says as the gospel on bras....I mean you're having someone measure your chest, you'd assume they know how to fit bras properly. But they have an interest in selling you a size that's available or a size they make so they would rather have you be that size instead of what fits properly.

How am I supposed to have good boobs when those born with good boobs are getting the same help!!!

I'm a C cup... When I go to VS, the saleslady still asks me if I want those gel insert things... No, I'm good with my C's.
