I would never wear my letters, or any of my other sorority gear, in a different color. Even if I did a patterned background, the pattern's coloring would have to be consistent with my sorority's colors.
As far as wearing the letters across the seats of pants goes, I don't think LADIES should wear any kind of writing across their behinds, period. But, that's just my old-school, Bible-belt, South Carolina upbringing, LOL. :p |
I wear my letters in colors than our own. In my chapter, Bigs made matching shirts for themselves and their new little(s) for revealing. In addition, each family usually had a matching sweatshirt made.
My family letters are pink and yellow polka dots with silver background on a pink sweatshirt. The matching letters I made for my little & I are a purple star print on a silver background. The matching letters my Big made for us (I'm a quadruplet) are red sequins on a white background on a black sweatshirt. |
Gamma Phi has had a tradition of chapter colors - for example, my chapter colors were red and blue - so it is possible a chapter had the colors of pink and white (although that would not be advisible on a campus with Phi Mu!). Everyone in my chapter had to have an official jersey in the chapter colors.
I like having my letters in various colors - my favorite shirt right now is dark gray with pink letters. And I hate the letters on the butt. |

as a fraternity member, my viewpoint might be a little different but I see guys all the time in my chapter with t-shirts have different colors for TKE and there's not a problem with it. However, I haven't seen anyone yet with sewn-ons in a different color...

I pledged in 1992, and our chapter "families" were a pretty big deal. You had your mom, grandma, great-grandma, etc, and we kept track of them pretty diligently. It was fun at Homecoming to meet an alumnae, recognize the name, and say "hey...you're my great-great-great grandma!" |
my chapter wears our letters in other colors other than our own. i just ordered a new shirt with plaid red letters on a black shirt. and my first set of formal letters was light blue and navy blue instead of blue and gold

Thanks for being honest, Baby Pink! I can understand where you are coming from, if that is that tradition on your campus! My own GPhi chapter did not have chapter colors, we always considered our colors to be brown and mode, but we had letters in every color. Most Gamma Phi merchandise that is "manufactured" is pink...and we Gamma Phis def consider pink to be an important part of our identity...brown and mode have ritual and historical signifigance.
As for letters are your rear end...its a no no according my new age, hedonistic Southern Calif upbringing too! Keep your letters close to your heart! |
I like my butt pants, they're comfy :( The funniest butt letters I've seen were SDT's. No offense to SDT at all, but you already know your letters spell EAT. Imagine seeing that on someone's behind.

I sometimes wish that NPC sororities were as "hardcore" as NPHC orgs...but it'll never happen, so be it. Love it though...I guess respect comes in different levels and is taken with different levels of severity depending on the council or organization. |

Oh and butt-letters? I might be biased because I refuse to wear anything on my butt (I think it's a HEYHEYLOOKATME thing...I do not like these things.), but even if I did...that's disrespectful to SIT on your letters constantly. I mean really...sit, fart...NO. There's an easy solution, too...there are track pants with letters down one of the legs. If you must have letters on your pants, what's wrong with those? They're cute and at least they aren't being SAT upon. |

Again, I wouldn't put letters on my butt (frowned upon by chapter; not campus culture) but I am fond of my Victoria Secret "PINK" capris which have a huge rose colored PINK written on the bootie and the actual capris are white and they do match many of my Phi Mu recruitment shirts! They are a kinda great tool without being "direct". You can't get much bigger than that PINK (and they actually make my butt look great! I get TONS of compliments with them, they emphasize :D ). |
