So your saying that they were founded as Service organizations or Social organizations?

Just curious because your word play is dubious at best.

"Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
A Service Sorority"

"Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
A Public Service Organization"

"Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
A Public Service Sorority Founded 1913"

Funny......I don't recall saying that we restrict anyone from joining.

He wasn't accusing. He was seeking clarification, just as I was. Just to clarify, women can join your fraternity, correct?

They are "service-based organizations."

Never said he was accusing. Although, the attempt at clarification was poor at best. But, just to clarify, females are welcome to petition for membership.

But why you would want to be around a bunch of leerring young and old men are beyond me.

So, considering the fact that Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated is a Service Sorority, how have you all dealt with Title IX?

That's certainly a question for all organizations with non-exclusive membership, but it happens. Thanks for the explanation. It helps us understand what type of organization yours is.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't see anything about it at first your website, except for this: "GAMMA BETA CHI NATIONAL SERVICE FRATERNITY, INC., does not discriminate based on race, age, religion, creed or origin." It was not clear to me that you accept women as members since gender/sex is not mentioned, and since your mainpage refers to the "men of Gamma," and says: "Going above and beyond the call of duty is what’s necessary in counteracting the negative images that society has attempted to coin our young African-American men with. Let us make the difference, proving that our young black men are productive citizens who are more than capable of contributing greatly to society." I did eventually find reference to membership being open to "all individuals" at the Start a Chapter page, though.

Not that it's my problem one way or the other. But as jeni says, it's a question that does and will arise, and it helps everyone understand your organization a little better.

Understand GBX a bit better.......maybe.

But the approach just smacked of seeking canon fodder to mess with the noob.

Then again, maybe that's just the approach here.

Sorry you saw it that way. Wasn't trying to gather cannon fodder at all.

Funny how a poster's choices might be seen by a reader to mean something other than what the poster actually intended, huh? ;)

Cool back. 'Fraid I don't know any brothers from there, though.
