I AM A MIAKA!!!!!!!!

WOW..!!!after reading all of the post made by member of the greek sisterhood and brotherhood, I believe it is time for a "MIAKA" to speak out on what is going on!!!.....First of let's clarify a few things!!...WE are not AKA's this we know...It's in our code!! which goes like this,"As a male I know that I can never be a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc. but I can love them with all my heart!!We believe that AKA is our inspiration and we honor the founders and respect the members of AKA fo they are our strength we call them soro!!"....Truth is we do go through somewhat the same iniation and rituals that AKA's go through..We do know soem of their history and we have history of our own..There are some female members of the sorority that help with our pledging process....We do not wear the sacred letters of AKA because we know we cannot...although we do wear pink and green and throw up the "pinky" with pride and even use the call "skee-wee!!" we do not use the letters!! Well..I know my chpater doesnt I can't speak for the all...We are no different than Kappa sweethearts or any d9 organization!! we can emulate strolls, call, chants, and signs, but not incorporated symbols this we know...but the pinky and skee-wee are not in the "orignal" history they came along down the line as a way to rep the soro even though there is a meaning to it the bottom line is it's not a trademark!! We love AKA's we do not try to mock them in anyway I have my 20 pearls I know my herstory!!! I am a MIAKA ..feel free to ask me any question I have no problem answering I will not release names of any king though sorry!!! WE were meant to be a secret"UNDERGROUND" It is just something practiced in the gay community by Males but we take it very serioussly!! as far as the lesbians emulating frats..I've never seen it I know nothing about it..They're male who emulate deltas,s g rhos, and zeta, we are miaka's we dont not claim or use the name Alpha Kappa Alpha incorporated!!...Like I said I will freely and openly discuss and answer questions but all names will be kept private!!

You can't (well you can, but we all can see what it has led to) call someone Soror, who isn" your Soror.

Just because they are not trademarked doesn't mean they are not sacred to the members of the organization.

But in essence you are "claiming" to be AKA's by using certain symbols and by wearing pink and green in your "imitation" of greek life, while using their symbols.

Somehow I'm doubting that the founders of AKA would see much honor here, or that the members of AKA see much respect.

We call them soror giving them respect..like i've repeativley said we are not AKA's! we do not wish to be we call them soror because of the fact that official AKA women help with our process!!!

We know they are sacred we keep them sacred...we respect AKA's!!! we use them only to rep and show our love and appreciation for all the things they have accomplished!!!

Notice I said wearing pink and green while imitating aspects of greek life and using their (AKAs) signs. And signs vs. symbols is a technicality...I like the color red, but if I was sporting some red attire, while standing next to a statue of an elephant and had my hands shaped to form a Delta, it is disrespectful, ESPECIALLY since I am aware that those are signs associated with Delta Sigma Theta. Support all you want to, do community service with them, support their programming, but wearing someone elses colors and copying their signs isn't supporting them, at best it's imitation, at worst it is mockery and disrespectful.

That was very well said.

I know. LOL. And they are sweating bullets right now.

They were smart enough to not be caught in photos but dumb enough to do it in the first place, knowing that bad news travels fast.

This whole thing is a mess. A hot azz mess.

Well whoops...

I don't get this, so I don't have an opinion on it, but I do have an opinion on a woman helping pledge guys like the sorority they emulate...

That is a NO. NO.

Maybe there is a difference between soro and soror. *shrugs*

they seem to have a liking for AKA...but if they really want to have a sisterhood with people, why not create a co-ed organization? you'll have sister through that
