My Orientation Leader and my Rho Chi were both Phi Mus!
|
My Orientation Leader was actually in Tri Delta! She graduated before I joined (we have deferred rush and she was a senior my freshman year), but she's been back a lot to help out with various events we've had. My Rho Gammas were in Pi Phi, Alpha Gamma Delta, and Alpha Phi.

For the life of me, I couldn't figure out if my Rho Gamma was an AZD or a Phi Sig. (her hair said one thing but her clothes screamed ???) But by the second night she gave herself away to me by unconciously doing something kinda rude to me (when she realized that my bf was in the "wrong" fraternity while I was asking a recruitment related question) that my ENTIRE rush group also noticed and pointed out to me (even though I obviously had seen it too). She couldn't help herself I suppose. (I was a junior when I rushed so I knew some of the "stereotypes" that went along with each chapter) She was a Rho Gamma again this year too. We talk when we see each other and I don't hold it against her. Most of her chapter probably would have done the same thing at the time and not even thought twice about it cos it was an unconcious reaction. Now, I don't think they'd react the same way.

Well, I had one even though I ended up dropping & COB'd instead.
The two I had after Day 1 were an Alpha Phi (totally thought she was a DZ) and a Tri-Delta (thought she was a GPhiB). Man I was off. |
mine was an ASA....I thought she was a Phi Sigma Sigma.
Most of my group guessed me correctly (Chi O), but PNMs in other Rho Chis' groups thought I was a Tri Sigma. |

But a ChiO as a Tri-Sig???    |
Okay, I am missing something....why is mistaking a Chi O for a Tri Sig so shocking?

Back to the original question: mine was a Gamma Phi Beta - I knew ahead of time, just because she worked the Student Union info desk both freshman and sophomore year (I went through as a sophomore) and I would see her wearing her letters everywhere :) I didn't say anything, and neither did another fellow sophomore PNM - who also worked in the Student Union with our Rho Chi! |

My Rho Chi was a Gamma Phi Beta. I was SURE she was a Delta Gamma.
KD had two Rho Chi's that year - everyone knew (well, we didn't KNOW, but we all thought they were KDs) which group they belonged to. The revealing on Bid Day was more of a confirmation than a reveal. I was so glad to know I was going to be their sister! :) |
I rushed this year- one of mine was a Chi O and the other was a Phi Mu. They asked us to guess and mostly everyone knew which ones they were!
|
One of my rho chis was a KD and the other one was a Theta.
There's a funny story about the Theta...I definitely saw her nametag on one of the girls in the Theta room. All the members have to wear a nametag for rush, and the girl rushing me didn't have hers, so she grabbed a random one from the pile. Turns out, it was my rho chi's nametag! I was like, "that name sounds familiar..." and the girl swore up and down that it was a nametag of a girl who graduated a long time ago! That was the first day of formal rush, too, so...haha, whoops...? |
There were 2 rho chi's for my group....one was an Alpha Phi and the other was a Tri Sigma.
|
The Rho Chis in my rush group were pretty easy to guess; some of them had dark, bobbed hairstyles and hornrimmed eyeglassas in in colors like blue or red. So it was obvious to anyone in the greek system at that time and place that these girls were Tri Deltas. Chi Omegas were easy to spot because of their cashmere twinsets and discrete pears and their almost uniform long, wavy, chunckily highlighted, blonde heads.
