I hate that this show is on Sundays AFTER football, so it never starts on time and then Desperate Housewives starts before it is over. Is CBS trying to kill this show or what? I never like trying to watch shows that come on after football because you never know when the heck they're going to start!

I was so rooting for Peter to fall in the water (or for Sarah to push him in) when he was trying to untie the oyster traps. What a jerk.

And I was so glad to see Tom and Jerry eliminated.

It was on right at 8 this week, at least in my area.

We tape Amazing Race, watch Desperate Housewives while its on, then watch TAR after DH.

60 Minutes ruined it for me this week. That is they played it for over 1/2 the episode my DVR didn't tape the other half. CBS needs to work this kind of stuff out already b/c this is the 2nd time this season and it makes me not even want to watch the show...

I was kinda bummed because we got our power back 4:30 PM after the earthquake, but our CBS affiliate still hadn't regained power by then. I was afraid that they were going to pre-empt TAR to accomodate local news coverage of the earthquake and power outage. They came back at 7:30, but the newsroom and most of the neighborhood still didn't have power...but for some reason 60 Minutes was on. TAR came on 2 hours later, and luckily I was able to set the DVR to watch it later! Flavor of Love was on...couldn't miss that!

Last night's TAR gave me more confirmation that Peter's an ass and I hope that Sarah's left him by now.

YES. He's like a jacked up gay personal trainer with cheerleader aspirations.

I was still at work, so I don't know.. but wasn't there a sporting event that preceded 60 minutes? I gave my VHS recorder an hour buffer.. so I got the tail end of 60 minutes and all of amazing race.

I was glad the Coal Miners were still in it. I'd like to see Peter and Sarah gone. It's the Peter half that offends. I've got a feeling Sarah is going to dump Peter after the race.

I really enjoyed Sarah when she told Peter to his face that she is not enjoying the race with him. He keeps proving he is a bigger jerk each week. Love that she does all of the really hard athletic challenges, while all he does as a challenge is drive the car.

Her assertiveness is what I admire most.

You've seen TAR couples with domineering men and women can't do anything but just stand there and scream and cry. Hi, Johnathan and Victoria...and Colin and Christie!

Sarah tells him that she's not enjoying the race. She tells him to stop yelling at her. But most of all, she attempts and completes the physical challenges...probably even better than he could!

You know they're parents now???? I feel so sorry for their daughter, her dad is going to mess her up in the head something awful!

60 minutes

Yeah what's up with the '60 Minutes' didn't run for sixty minutes, they need to be sued for misrepresentation, even though they broadcasted the Duke lacrosse scandal. And the clock's ticking sounds of the show drives me crazy.

Yeppers, I've heard all about the Halong Bay in Vietnam, I'd love to visit it sometime.

I like the Barbies, they work together really well, that would be cool if they win this season. Surprisingly they didn't complain that much, i.e. make-up, hair, smelly India, dirty tuktuk ...

I expected better from the drug addicts, being all athletic and models etc. And what's up with them choosing a fru-fru detour of coloring in art instead of the alligator.

The Alabama moms are stronger than I expected, it is nice to see all female teams (apart from Barbies) to hang on longer through the season.

Cho bros are cool, I'd love to see them win as well. I like their trick of cell phone, even though it was backfired at them (Peter actually used a real cell phone). Hmm I wonder what else on their bags, remember they had waterguns at the airport back in Seattle.

I agree with everybody's opinions on Peter/Sarah, it sounds like he's a flaming gay boy.

Rob/Kim is a mixed feeling, I haven't decided yet whether I like/dislike them.

Kentucky's last check in was a bummer, and especially with the new rule. I don't think I like the 30 min penalty they have over the last team to check in, hope they will be back to 'take all money and possession' rule.

blueangel 10-17-2006 11:12 PM

I'm with you. I really liked the "take all your money and possesions" rule better. I'm wondering if the begging for money to the locals got some of the contestents in past shows in hot water, so the producers eliminated it?

polarpi 10-18-2006 12:46 AM

Maybe I'm the only one, but I actually like this new "penalty" better. :o

Many times, we have seen the other teams "help" out the penalized team (remember Meredith & Gretchen a few seasons back?) where the penalty of losing the possessions [for the rest of the race] and money [for that leg of the race] really wasn't a hurdle at all. At least with this new "rule", there is a definite consequence if the last place team does not come in first the next leg.

With the amount of bunching that happens on most legs, anyways, I don't know that this penalty will be that hard to overcome, either. I guess we'll just have to wait and see this week!

You're not the only one. The old "penalty" was a joke, because it never mattered. Can anyone remember a single leg where having to give up money or possessions made any difference at all to the penalized team? They always managed to get the money they needed -- either from other teams or from hapless passers-by, and they always had new clothes/bags/whatever in no time. By the time we were 10 minutes into an episode, the "penalty" was a dim memory.

You're right that the seemingly-obligatory equalizer could make this penalty meaningless as well, but I think the new penalty has a much better chance of (1) making a difference and (2) keeping it interesting.

I'd like to see them win, too, but dang -- for a couple of smart guys they can be really dumb.

Water guns, or anything else that looks like guns, in an airport?

Pretend to make reservations on the phone, and give other teams the idea to actually borrow phones and make reservations? I mean, really -- how could that not backfire?

Tell other teams you're not in an alliance with what reservations you have because you "don't want to lie to them"? Then just keep your mouths shut.

They knew they were at risk of being in the back of the pack and they chose the one they thought would be faster -- the one that was right there instead of the one they had to travel to.

SoCalGirl 10-18-2006 03:26 PM

If I heard it correctly the new penalty is if you're not first place in the next leg you'll have a 30 minute penalty. Which means that the bunching would make the penalty even more serious. If the penalty was given at the beginning of the next leg then it would be meaningless.
