If they told Star at that point, I think it was an honorable thing to do.

Again, this is very likely a business decision in the end.

As for her making the announcement prematurly, there are often agreements on when and how something will be announced for competitive reasons. If that kind of understanding was in place (obviously I'm only speculating), then making the announcement early IS a big deal.

If nothing else, Star and the show are certainly getting a fair amount of publicity out of the whole mess. I can't help but wonder if that plays into this whole senario.

It's business, not personal. I didn't like Star, but I didn't not like her. The producers do what they think they need to do to keep the $$$ coming in.

*Shrug* I just disagree, and like I've said...regardless of whether or not it was a big deal to the show I DO NOT believe that it would be a big deal to the people on this board if it was someone other than Satr.

It's a cut throat business. They got cut throat...she got cut throat...I'm sure that she knew and was ok w/not returning after that day. Doesn't make her move any more or less shyty than their's.

With all due respect, I think you may be reading into this situation a little bit much. Unless you work for ABC, Barbara Walters (or her production company) or Star Jones you probably have no idea as to whether Star making the announcement early was a big deal or whether it would have mattered had it been someone other than Star. Putting aside that this is show business, I think that disregarding an agreement made with your boss (and the company who employs you) is a BIG deal and I would probably expect to be terminated as a result. I don't think this is a race thing or an "everyone hates Star Jones" thing....it's just business and in business, people get the boot for things like that.

ETA: just saw the posts above and mine is a bit repetitive, sorry!

Not to hijack, but is JLo going to be in the remake of Dallas? LOL

What did Star do before The View? What else does she do besides The View?
