WOW, I didn't know ppl got so mad over some things. Like, the stories of ppl rockin' a shirt because it matched etc. is clearly unacceptable. But touching canes paddles etc., I've never heard of anyone flipping over that. As a matter of fact, some of my boys who are Kappas were teaching me how to twirl with their canes! I don't see the big deal with people touching my things, like I have a family paddle that is 5 feet tall, and OF COURSE, people are drawn to it, and other gifts that I received upon crossing, jewelry boxes, pillows etc. people want to see, so I don't mind if they pick them up and look at them [they can't LAY on them, but they can look]. I feel like sometimes people cross the line of "worshiping" these things. While I will NOT let my letters be disrespected, I don't mind people "touching" my things. And there have been times when I was with my ex, who's an Alpha, at a greek event, and I may be cold he'd ask if I wanted his line Jacket, I never accepted, but it doesn't seem like a big deal to me, I'm not trying to "perp", and it's just not that serious...... now if someone was trying to take down one of my degrees off the wall, THAT'S a different story! I have them nicely framed and I WILL shank someone!! lmao j/k :D :D

I don't think it's a big deal for someone to touch an item....unless it's on you, well, unless it yo' man........

This is true. Our kids know this is something they do in college and when they have the grades. We take them to community service functions when possible, but because they're 7,6,3,and 1, I never really dressed them in the shirts for them. Mainly I do it for me. |

I almost feel bad for those kids. That is a straight SET UP by their parents. Because when they go to college....NEXT YEAR.... it'll still fit, and I PRAY for mercy on them when the orgs chapter on that yard sees them rockin' that! :( |
Something similar happened to me before I became greek. My boyfriend was a Mason and I was drinking water from a Mason glass. He had a fit and explained to my why I couldn't drink from it. I understand now that I am greek myself.

Now that's WAYYYYYYY too old. I don't know how I feel about the girls organizations. We have Ivyettes and the Deltas have Cream De La Cream, however, they DO NOT wear anything that can be alluded to a sorority. Ivyettes wear green and white, and the Cream's wear white and black. They are told this is not a Pre-AKA organization and not to go to ______ College/University and wear these shirt or walk up to an AKA and say "I was an Ivyette". Even though I am an active member of my sorority and I want my daughters to one day experience this sisterhood, they do not have the right to be AKA's. Just because mama is one doesn't mean they have automatic rights. I do not want them going the legacy way. Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't have that privillege and I'm glad that I didn't. If they choose to go another route... , (LOL) I will support them because they have to love their organization. I don't want them in AKA if their hearts aren't in it. |

http://www.geocities.com/kl_1922/KLphotos.html *shaking head* someone needs to get BEAT DOWN! 2nd paragraph: I wish everyone felt like that! I've seen it in EVERY org. It is sickening to hear on all occassions. I remember on one occassion I was out with a friend of mine who's an AKA, and a girl came up to her and was like [verbatim] "uh, yeah, my mama is a "skee-wee" *throwing up pinky* I'm going to be one of your sorors soon" I counted to ten like A HUNNID TIMES! but since that didn't work, and the visions of me knocking her to the ground and riverdancing on her chest just wouldn't go away, I had to just go on ahead and leave. |
