Wow! I didn't realize they taped that many episodes already. I knew they started showing the episodes in a few states a while back, but I didn't know they were up to 40!!!

You made history again!

What can I say? I remember last year HOUSE OF PAYNE aired ten episodes in only ten markets. And when the first shows aired I got a lot of messages on the message board saying what they liked and didn't like. I remember sending an email asking those who didn't like the show to be patient with it and just watch. Well by the last of the ten episodes a lot of you who had reservations about the show were in love with it. You may remember that.

The same is true here. It's very hard to do a sitcom because you have to set up the characters and get people involved in them and that takes time. It's hard to explain and develop characters especially when you only have 22 minutes in an episode. It's much easier in plays and in movies where I have hours. So, with all of that said I want to assure you that you have not seen the best of HOUSE OF PAYNE.

I know that you're busy and your time is precious, but what I would ask that you do, those of you who will, is to continue to watch HOUSE OF PAYNE on Wednesday at 9. I think a lot of you are going to be pleased and surprised at the direction the show takes on. I'm only asking you to commit to the next five weeks…that's it! If you are not drawn in by then, then this may not be your type of show, but those of you who will, you'll see this show is going to turn up the heat in a minute.

To my Die Hard, Ride or Die folks, those of you that have been with me through all of this, thank you for the love and support. WOW is all I can say. When you have favor with God He gives you favor with man. And I can see that to be true with all of you.

Thank you for giving this cast a helping hand. Nobody, I mean nobody would give them a break. And they are so talented. As you watch you will see what I mean. So just be a little patient with the show and stick it out with your boy then you'll see what I mean. And thank you to all of you that watched, as well as went to the message board. We need the feed back--the good as well as the not so good. Just know that I appreciate it and I respect it. I don't care what any critics say as long as I'm getting the real from you. And a lot of ya'll gave me the real! (smile)

I am so grateful to God to have people like you in my corner. You made such a difference. HOUSE OF PAYNE was and is the highest rated debut of a sitcom in basic cable history. By you all watching you sent the ratings 94% higher than what was expected. The launch was amazing! Thank you for helping so many deserving people realize their dreams,
and for helping us to make history.

So please continue to watch if you can. "Meet the Browns" is my next sitcom starring Cora and Brown and it is all ready to go. So by you continuing to watch you are helping to pave the way for that one.

Thank you...

TYLER P

Lmbo!!! Thanks for the recap. The 1st episode was sooooo boring that by the time the 2nd episode came on, I had moved on to something else. I kept the television tuned to that channel though. If he wants to reach 100 episodes (or even that first 40), he needs all the ratings he can get.

Ditto. I liked it! It wasn't as funny as I thought it'd be, but like I said before, I often laugh at the corny jokes that no one else does. :o I think the shows ended too fast though, like they just left off at entirely the wrong spot. And there's definitely some overacting, but it was still funny to me!

I enjoyed the first two episodes....will definitely be tuning in to support him.

For those who are trying to watch it on TBS.com...

Are you having trouble with the episodes playing? I've tried several times but all it would play is that Pine-Sol ad. :(

So I was one of those people that saw House of Payne last summer and wondered what the hell this show was, but by week 2 I was ok with the fact that the show did get better I was looking forward to watching the new season on TBS. So, it comes on and I am like WTH. For one I knew that the show was being revamped, but dang, why the change from taking CJ from being the son to the nephew now, what is that really about?! I don't know where Tyler is taking this show, but I liked it better with Curtis and Ella being the parents and not the aunt and uncle. I mean CJ was called CJ because it stood for Curtis Jr right. Well no I wasn't feeling either ep, but like last summer I'm going to ride with Tyler and the show and hope that it gets better.

I must also say and admit that I have never seen any of Tyler plays or his movies and I know nothing about Madea accept for who the person is, and I know nothing about Meet the Browns...I know I may be the only person on earth that hasn't seen them, but hey I just wasn't in to them...so I knew not who this person was with the flamboyant clothing and what not was until I read the post for this thread....but at any rate I really do hope that this show gets better, because right now it SUCKS.....

If anyone has On Demand, it is being shown on there as well

UrbanizdSkillz 06-10-2007 09:44 PM

Well as I said before, I'm going to keep trying to watch it through and give it a chance. Maybe it was a rough beginning. And no, it wasn't academy award acting but, I will still give it a shot. Maybe it will get better :)

wudst 06-11-2007 08:11 AM

I thought the show was awful! I know we should support each other but geez!! Give me something I want to watch. I will see how it is this week. If it doesn'tget better I'll just stop watching it.

CrimsonTide4 06-11-2007 10:46 AM

I'll give it a chance to improve/work out kinks. But if by my birthday, I'm still not feeling it then I will just use my time in other ways, i.e. Nick at Nite.

CrimsonTide4 06-13-2007 09:45 PM

So what do you all think of this week's eps? Better? Worse? The Same?
