Two interesting names I overheard during college football games this weekend:

Antigen and Algae

Guess their mothers just liked the sound of the words without regard to what they meant.

Where I live, there is a glut of names with the suffix -vious. Such as Dontavious, Marquavious and the like. I also tend to see those type of names in the crime reports. Must be alot of anger associated with names like that.

Encountered a fast food clerk named Obsequious ... but she pronounced it "Ob-se-QUI(rhymes with sigh)-us". I don't understand how anyone winds up with a name like that, really. But then, I know people who actually go by Bubba (and get their bills and things sent to them as "Bubba"), so I give up understanding these things ...

lol imagine how many times she has to repeat her name when tryna teach somebody how to pronouce it.

ok, at the classic why was the lady at the ticket booth's name was Acquenetta?! i looked twice just to make sure i read it right.

Watching the news, a lady named Shauntamika was on air. It's a sad story, but the name is...great.

Yesterday I saw Tawfiqua. *smh*

There is a girl in my son's class named Menagerie :o

I think if my parents had named me something really horribly embarrassing, I would change it as soon as I got the chance. I can't believe people go by some of these things. Menagerie??? Ecstacee??? My brother and sister have unusual names, but nothing that would cause ridicule ...

A woman I used to work with named her daughter Tequilla (no idea how she spelled it). I fear for that woman's children ... she was nuts.

Children that are named after expensive vehicles and after liquor are tooooo much for me. Please don't do that to your child.

I usually run into kids who names are a derivative of their father's. I say oh you're Dad's name is... and they're like "how'd you know?"
example Martinesha...Dad's name is Martin
T'Jasonique...Dad's name is Jason and Mom's name is Monique
Shawnesha, Darrylisha, Markisha, Waynicka, Brianisha

I knew a sibling group, Lexxus, Toyota, and Cutlass

My people got to love em'.
