Not really. There is an unwritten guideline that we are not to wear APO insignia or attire while drinking, but there are no rules or guidelines at to when/were we wear our badge or pins, other then a general guideline (that most aren't aware of) of wearing it on our left side as its closer to our heart. In fact, APO has make woven lanyards, and I've worn this at APO events, with APO-related pins on it. At our National Convention, many will wear their APO pin on their ID holder.

I will wear my APO pin (my Life Member pin to be exact) on t-shirts, polo shirts, and collared shirts (as well as on my scout uniform) when I am doing (or going to be doing) stuff as an APO member.

I typically reserve the wearing of my APO badge for more formal occasions. These times I'm wearing a suit, and wear it on my coat lapel.

Interesting how different groups will have different guidelines and traditions in this regard.

We only wear ours on dress shirts or sweaters, over the heart. Wearing the badge on coat lapels, collars, ties or the like is not approved.

And after reading the posts a few times, I think maybe he was distinguishing between pins (such as a lifetime membership pin) and the badge proper?

I believe most (if not all) NPCs wear their badges with AT LEAST business casual or nicer and on the left side, over the heart.

I actually had a DZ point out to me that if you put your right thumb on that little dip in the bone under your neck (I'm sure there's a medical term for it, but I don't remember it) and make a right angle with your thumb & pinky, your pinky lands right where your badge should be. It's a good guide for new members.

In APO, all members are given a Service Pin. Its a more inexpensive pin then our formal badge. Our Life Membership pin is a special version of our Service Pin.

The Service/LM Pin is a more 'informal pin', and members will wear it on a variety of clothing: t-shirts, polos, dress shirts, dresses, etc. The ideal is every Brother would have the pin and wear it at least when doing something APO-related, and hopefully wear it other times on campus.

Because of the cost, most don't have a badge. Those who do will typically 'reserve' it for more formal occasions. The badge has always traditionally been worn on coat lapels. (you will see our National Officers wearing it on their tuxedo coat lapels at National Convention Banquets).

I would not wear my badge to work, but mainly because I see it as a 'formal wear' item. I WOULD wear my LM pin at work, but I'm not in the habit of doing so every day. I WOULD if I was going to be doing something APO-related after work that day.

This may be different for the guys, as I can't think of many occasions where wearing a pin is common in the workplace. Maybe since 9/11, people have been wearing American flag pins, but that's it...

However, I'll have to agree that wearing the badge everyday is overkill. Personally, I won't wear my badge again unless I'm attending a fraternity event.

I'm not sure if your sorority has something like this, but Kappa Sig sells a ring that has the badge on it. I've seen quite a few people wear that, and it might be a way to "wear" your org's badge in a non-traditional sense.

We have rings and necklaces that you can fit your badge into - however, if you have a chapter guard on your badge, I wouldn't think you'd want to take it off for the sake of doing that.

I tend not to wear my badge all the time, but for special occasions (weddings/funeral of my Brothers or their familes, fraternity events) i do wear it. When people ask, i tell them. However, everywhere I go, when wearing a suit jacket , i wear my 10 year alumni button so my love of Phi Psi shines through
