The bars in Charleston from my friend at cofc are Silver Dollar, AC's, O'Malleys and the beer factory. He also said for pregaming, the kickin chickin is a good idea.

The G-man didn't open up until after I graduated, but I went there once after a football game, and once with an old boyfriend (Skull) who had become a professor (it's funny hearing students call your date "Professor")

When I was up there, the #1 fratty bar was The Den - on Tuesday nights, it was wall-to-wall people and 100% Greek, which was kind of fun - you knew everyone there. The upstairs was only half the size it is now, which made it...uh...cozier. (no dancefloor!)

Wednesdays was the night for fraternity parties, or a visit to the Saloon (not too fratty back then)

Thursdays was the big Greek night for Mr. C's (now Players). The only night people dressed up and danced.

Fridays the Skeller was popular with Greeks - $6 for a case of Rolling Rock ponies (am I dating myself or what?) each group got a table, and then mixed

Cafe 210 ROCKED during the Spring (although it was "La Chaumiere" when I was there)-- we used to play a game called "Spiderweb", where we would sit outside during the day and compete to seduce our friends into cutting class and joining us (much safer when you were taking classes that didn't require your regular attendence)

The Den was definately shady shaderson when I was there. I went there twice, once on a Saturday nite my senior year and then once on one of my senior week bar tours. Thursday nites were ALL about Bill Filer at The Grill. The Big Easy and The Cafe were must stops any nite, and Mad Mex was always good for the huge margaritas. The G-Man was an end of the night stop. The Saloon was good for smokin kareoke and oh how I miss those Monkey Boys. . . . tear. . .I wanna go back to school. . .

The quiet atmosphere is precisely why we've been summering there since the early '70s. It's not too tacky despite being a tourist spot. Once you get in the plantation, it's even more low-key. What an ideal way to relax.

the Den is shady but it's not as bad as it used to be. I think the Brewery is worst. I love the Monkey Boys, only 1 can get me tipsy.

I've never been into The Grill at all. The Big Easy is an occasional stop but I'm a rap/reggae person. By default, I spend more time than anything else at the shadiest places in State College: Players and Club Love

the Saloon really isn't fratty. I'd say the G-man is the frattiest place, followed by Mad Mex, the Grill, and Cafe 210. But then, you can find anyone anywhere in State College though.

Oh I can't wait for it to be warm and to be spending the afternoons at the Sportscafe...

Just because its been around for a while still doesn't mean that everyone knows how to be truly, fratty. Namely, 99% of those who live outside of the South.

Yes, that word is only the province of recent graduates who want to pose as students of other, more Southern institutions. Fake posturing, apparently, = fratty.
