I know they have to be a certain format, but that's all I know. If you have an LJ, check out the ipod community :)

both quicktime & real player are proper formats...

if you want music videos Just Jared is a good site for them...so is Yahoo Video.

I would suggest getting the Quicktime Pro so you can download anything you want..it's only like $30 & might be less for students....

I have the same one. From what I gather so far, you have to have quicktime pro to convert anything into the correct format. I have some files on quicktime, and even those won't go into my ipod.

Whenever I need to find out about ipods, I go here.... http://www.ilounge.com

It's great. They have tutorials called ipod 101 and itunes 101. They also have tips on how to customize itunes and ipods, it's a good site.

i think so...it plays in my itunes...i might be wrong though...and categorizes itself in the video section.

My iPod headphones broke. What should I get to replace them with? I don't really want to spend more than $50, and I like the in-ear style a lot because it's convenient for working out and riding the bus.

Is it still under warranty? When mine broke, I just brought them to Apple and they gave me a new pair.

I don't have any real info on 'ear bud'-style phones, because I prefer the neck-wrap style ones . . . they stay on as well or better as buds, especially in the gym or on the bus, and they hold up a lot better on my ears rather (buds get annoying for me, fast).

The Sony ones are solid, and they're around $20 . . .

These are pretty awesome. They do surround sound and they're earbuds. They won a few awards & they only cost $16...the way they do it is by fitting down inside your ear & having speakers at different places almost outside of your ear...my friend has them & they're really cool.

'm pretty sure those are the ones that my friend got. They wouldn't fit in his ear properly and he asked me about it and google showed a ton of people that were unhappy with it.

I use Shure. The cheapest one is 99 I think but on ebay or other places you can find it for like 75. Those are incredible quality and will also keep you from going deaf.

My iPod's battery isn't staying charged the way it used to. It's two years old. I'm not really sure what to do. Does anyone know anything about battery replacement?

My earbuds broke also. I just use a regular headset. In NYC people have had their iPods stolen on the subway because they were wearing those obvious white earbuds. I don't like the way the earbuds feel in my ears anyway so I wasn't too disappointed.

Once the battery is dead, the replacement is basically a new IPOD. If you have apple care and your under 2 years old (apple care is for 2 years), they will give you a new one for free. If you don't have apple care, it is, I believe $100 to get a new one of the same model you currently have.

Both the husband and I have these and for headphones under $20, they're not bad. They have a tendency to slip out of my ears if I'm moving around a lot (working out, etc..), but I've yet to find a pair of earbuds that fit me really well (small ears? I dunno). The husband likes them a lot. Sound quality is decent.
