As for the Purple Heart, at least he was in battle. The medal has been given for less.

If I buy some medals on ebay, will you vote for me?

Depends on which country.

That McCain's problem with having the media as his only constituency - they can give him coverage and love, but they aren't likely to give him cash.
1) The Media is not McCain's only constituency. You have neither the credibility to make such a statement, nor are you able to provide a credible source to back that up.

2) He now has the fundraising machine in place to make the run.

Don't strawman the argument, or make it ad hominem - that's bad for debate.

Now what were we saying about comparing military service records before commenting?

The comment that started that hijack had nothing to do with being a candidate, but rather supporting our troops:

"At least McCain really supports the troops, unlike another Senator who "served in Vietnam."

It was a joke, DA. ;)

The New York Times reports on one of those cases:

"A Federal appeals court has ruled that the National Security Agency may lawfully intercept messages between United States citizens and people overseas, even if there is no cause to believe the Americans are foreign agents, and then provide summaries of these messages to the Federal Bureau of Investigation."

This article appeared Nov. 7, 1982, and is reprinted by Newsbusters.org. But last week the Times was shocked, shocked to learn that the NSA was spying on al Qaeda. The Drudge Report notes that both President Carter and President Clinton signed executive orders providing for warrantless searches.

This is looking increasingly like another effort by hostile journalists to gin up a fake scandal and discredit the administration. And once again, Democrats are falling for it.

- OJ

OJ gets it right again. The Bush-hating bunch, with their willing accomplishes in the media, gins up a phony scandal to further their Bush-hating agenda. And once again, some GC friends are falling for it.

1 - you're right. His consitituents include the media AND those who get their news from Media Wing of the Democratic Party, (... of course, we support the troops) especially John Stewart's Daily Show. McCain has a permanent inviation to appear on all the talk shows, and no one appears more. He's a great media candidate.

The media (... of course, we support the troops) has given him a pass for supporting the war, but that's about their only disagreement.

2 - wouldn't know, but there are plenty of Bush-haters (... of course, we support the troops) with deep pockets who will fund McCain.

McCain has also been a magician in avoiding mention of the AZ bunch which was the biggest abusers in the Savings and Loan scandal a few years ago - ole Johnny was in bed with them, and I suspect the details are being collected now by the "Savings and Loan Officers for Truth" committee.

We know the "Hanoi Hilton veterans for Truth" is also up and sailing. Did Johnny get a suite deal in Hanoi?

Let's see, as I recall, one of the main names in that scandal was Bush.

Neil Bush, wasn't it?

Let's see, as I recall, he has a fairly famous brother.

Oh yeah, and also a famous father.

They don't mention it a lot either.

By the way, the following is below bad taste. Perhaps you might have enjoyed sharing that suite with the senator.

"We know the "Hanoi Hilton veterans for Truth" is also up and sailing. Did Johnny get a suite deal in Hanoi?"

Of course I'm sure you made it "in support of our troops" of which Senator McCain was a distinguished member.

I suspect the HHVFT is sailing with financial support from Hillary. And she'll be trying to take out any likely GOP candidate.
