I have a very nice ring. My husband spent more than he should have, but not more than he could personally afford. 1.47 carat princess cut, E/F color, VS1 in a solid, plain platinum setting. He paid about $6800; it's insured for about $9500.

Is is sad I wish I made $36K (even pre tax)?

A new TV is way better.

My fiancée was out shopping with my mother. They came accross a ring that she loved which was $600. They told me about it, I acted uninterested.

Guys -- if your soon-to be fiancée ever tells you she really likes a $600 ring for an engagement ring, get your ass to the store.

I was there the next day buying that thing. Of course... I held onto it for a year before I proposed..

My Ex and I went out and bought our rings together.

They were both nice and looked good but not ovberly expensive.

Like having a Kid, damn dont break Yourselfs out, it may be a long haul.
