Me too. That was sometime in the late 1950's.

I can't quote it exactly, but the Bible says somewhere that not even the angels in heaven know the day or hour...

That's what my Granny always pointed out whenever someone mentioned the end of the world.

Though I'm sure the 6th will be a creepy day...

Didn't we get the calendar wrong? I remember learning in high school that the original calculation was incorrect, and that our timeline is about three years off from the actual birth of Jesus. So I would try not to worry too much.

Yeah something like that. But an ancient babylonian tablet predicted that every year is worse until 2012 and the day it gave was either 12 or 28 or something like that, anyway, if that doesn't kill us, an astroid will in 2029. Unless I stop it. I have the power to stop this astroid, Mr. Secretary General, but first I want to have a meeting with the security council of the U.N. I think you'll find what I have to say very interesting. I let you put a computer chip in my brain, sir. You owe me at least one meeting.

I swear I'm not crazy. The last five sentaces of the above paragraph were adressed soley to moe.ron, who pretends to be Asian, but is actually quite pround to be Arya N.

a.e.B.O.T. 11-11-2005 12:14 AM

there is a 1 in 300 chance that that astroid will hit, and its predicted to cause damage but not catastrophic...

heres what i dont understand... i know we are super an every thing... but how can we even guess that close of odds for an astroid that is 24 years away and only a quarter mile wide.

I'm glad that we have some Bible readers in the world. While I do believe that Jesus will return one day eventually, the Bible does say that no one knows the day nor the hour. So as far as I'm concerned all of these random predictions are just horse pucky.

Optimist Prime 11-11-2005 07:04 PM

I take the babylonian thing metaphorically, some thing will have a big change on that date, Hail Ishtar!

Ask Jack Van Impe. He has everything figured out. Seriously, though...6-6-06? Revelation says the name of the man is 666. Now someone else can probably explain it better, but didn't the Jews assign numerical values to letters? Apparently the man's name will have the sum of 666?

Incidentally, I think a lot of conservative Christian theologians would consider the Bible Code rubbish.

reliable source that i can't remember!

I read a book a long time ago about Hasidic Jews who did that. I don't remember what book it was, but yes, I believe at least some factions of Judaism do that.

I kinda figure that worrying about the end of the world is no way to live in the present.

More reason to live it up now and make the best of everything! I think it's all about having no regrets when and if the time does come. :D

.....F*ing kangaroos. ;) That is one of my favorite cartoons of all time. I first saw it 2 years ago, and it still makes me laugh my ass off when I see it again.
