There is a major for event mangment, though not a lot of schools offer it. I know this because it is part of my major (Sports, Entertainment and Event Mangment). Is it required to get a job in the field? Exprience counts more, but yes, you acutally really do need it if it's what you want to go into. There is so much that goes on while planning an event, wethere it be a wedding, a convention, or a gala, that it's crazy. I loved my event mangment class and it gave me a better idea of what I wanted to do with my degree, and even though event planning isn't exactly what I want to go into, it is something that is offered and needed. Jestor, I'm glad you realize that is it a hard field to go into. If you PM me I'll pass along some advice that was given to a few of the guys in my Intro to SEE class that want to go into coaching. Good luck to you, and I'm gald that your not giving up. It's not easy, and remember, networking is KEY in this field. |
1. Guess some people do not know everything.
2. Jestor, I hope You have found Your field. I hope You make up Your mind soon and quit running around the school system. As was said, people do look a little jaundiced at it. NIC, age can come into play depending on this size of School and Greek System. |
I won't try to be judgemental, because I don't know you from Adam's housecat. I just want to say I hope you find peace and happiness somewhere.

my two cents a little late...my friend really wanted to coach, too. she had an undergrad major in business administration and then went to grad school for sports administration. she was able to find jobs, however they were extrememly low paying and required a large time committment. given the time committment at certain times of year, she really was only able to keep temp jobs as her second source of income. that gave her more flexibility during her peak times. she was very lucky to be marrying a vet because she didn't make enough money to pay rent! oh, she ended up leaving coaching and being a stay at home wife...and more recently becoming a mom.

hey Jestor. Transfer to the U of Chicago and rush Alpha Epsilon Pi.
I know an alum from that chapter who would be thrilled to have you! |

I don't think people were rude to Jestor. Just honest and giving what they believe to be sincere advice. What do you want them to do? Ask him if he wants a sundae while he babysits their puppy name Penny? C'mon. In reality Jestor wouldn't get a bid from 70 percent of chapters across America. And if he does, it's probably to the sucky chapters that just want his money. |

And who is to say what will happen on the new campus? We'll just have to wait and see, now won't we? Though I will say, I have a very good feeling about it in all areas of school and Greek life. |

Can I ask you how does your response have any relevence to mine? |

Mel: I never said that every campus would want a 5-transfer brother. I'm sure there are tons out there who wouldn't, judging from the majority of the responses in this thread. I just wish people would stop assuming that it's the same everywhere and that usually the best source are those who are actually from the area. |

1. Find a School with What You Think You Want! 2. They May Be Sucky Greek Organizations to You! 3. Why Dont You Get OUt Of The Picture? 4. Maybe Your So Called Standards are to High or Your Self Esteme is as Big as Your Ego! Getting Old! As The Old Saying Is, "Shit Or Get Off Of The Pot"! |
