He didn't leave Nic for Katie, if he left her for anyone it was Penelope Cruz who is around his age. Nic is 10 years younger than Tom as it is.

No, it's since he started hanging out with the Thetans and Xenu etc. Nicole was the only thing that made him seem somewhat normal. Plus since her career has taken off and everyone's seen what a good actress she's become, it's generally conceded he purposely held her back and no female likes that.

This made me sad. :( I think that guy is gone forever. Sigh.... At least we will always have Top Gun on dvd. :)

I have to say I loved Tom when he was with Nicole. But now he is a little strange.

Oddly enough, I like Nicole better without Tom. Her career has really taken off since their break-up, which I know she has talked about before.

The romantic optimist in me really WANTS to believe that they really are happy and in love.... But I just don't know. I'm not quite as cynical about it as some people are, I just don't know what to think.

I remember reading articles where she said that SHE was the one who chose to focus on her family instead of her career while they were married. I never read anything of her saying that he TRIED to hold her back.

If it IS his baby, it will definatly be cute...which is probably a good thing considering all the mental baggage this poor kid's going to have.

Umm yeah....of course she's going to say that at the time. Everything I've seen since the breakup, she's pretty much confirmed without saying it outright that even when she was ready to work more, he vetoed it.

ETA that the child Nicole miscarried was supposedly Ewan MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM MMMMMMMMcGregor's not Tom's. Hence the divorce as there was evidence that Nic was fooling around since Tom shoots blanks.

Here's a lovely pic of Ewan for anyone who thinks Nic was wrong to break her vows. ;)

Yes, only because even that wouldn't convince Cruise to change his mind. He is WAY too set in his beliefs to change them. It would just mean that Katie was going through PDD with an extremely unsupportive man in her life who probably wouldn't allow her to use (or would make her feel extremely bad about using) drugs, therapy, or anything else.

And James, nobody is "asking for it." While taking supplements may reduce the chance of PPD, it certainly doesn't eliminate it. Furthermore, with Tom Cruise's anti-drug stance, who knows if he'd even be okay with Katie taking them (although maybe he considers them a "vitamin" in which case she's okay -- haha).

As for Tom's declining popularity, I think it dropped slightly after the way he treated Nicole in the wake of their divorce (many women who had previously loved Cruise were sympathetic to her -- her subsequent popularity was partially due to her talent and good movie choices, but also to the fact that many women empathised with her). Cruise's true popularity nosedive came after the Oprah appearance, and continued to sink at every major public incident after that. Cruise's handlers could NOT keep him out of the spotlight and it was usually for something unsympathetic (i.e., the PPD debacle). If Cruise had been smarter, he would have laid low for a while after Oprah and his popularity would probably have recovered. Instead, he went around doing a number of stupid things, appearing EVERYwhere in public with Katie insisting how rad their relationship was, and then the paparazzi started researching his involvement in Scientology and came up with lots of weird stories, which was the final nail in the coffin. It doesn't help that, I believe, Cruise's publicist is his sister (?) who is also a Scientologist, so clearly she was not going to be the one to reign him in.

One word... YUMMY!!!!!!

Is he taller than Tom?

I would not blame her one teeny tiny bit if she broke her vows with Ewan. I would probably do the same thing. :p

Slight hijack: Has anyone seen the movie "Young Adam"? You can see ALL of Ewan in that movie if you're interested, but be warned.... It is not very flattering. (Everyone is very gritty and dirty in that movie).

Oops, that was a big hijack... sorry./:)

Wait, since Tom is so anti-drugs, does this mean that Katie has to give birth without the epidural? I know many people do that, but ow.

Yeah, he'll probably hand her a bottle of vitamin C and tell her to get over it.

Maybe he will give her some vitamins before she delivers and wish her good luck. Haha.

I heard on TV this morning that Sceintology does not alow any drugs or epidurals with birth. ALSO - NO SCREAMING! It's traumatizes the baby...

Umm hello. What do they do, stuff a gag in the mother's mouth? I don't care if I have more drugs than everyone in the rock & roll hall of fame combined, I will def. be screaming when I push a HUMAN out of me.

Scientology was designed by a man, no doubt about that.

Yeah, that's just nuts. I would kinda think that if God had intended for babies not to be traumatized by the screaming, he would have made childbirth painless. :p

I honestly don't know anything about this, but don't babies scream and cry when they're born? What does Scientology say about that?

Yes, if they don't, it usually means that there's trouble with their breathing. A good cry is a very positive thing at birth.

That traumatizes the father.
