In regards to your question, I can't obviously answer for fraternities in general, but my sorority allowed us to wear "stiched" letters and the full Greek letters from the moment we became new members. One of the best people to ask would probably be your new member ("pledge") educator...any other help here, guys? :)

Generally - you'll need to consult with your chapter to see what you can and cannot wear as a pledge - items with the coat of arms or other symbols that distinguish an initiated member of a fraternity from a pledge is a big no-no. In Freemasonry, Entered Apprentice and Fellowcraft members are asked to refrain from wearing or displaying the Square and Compasses until one has been raised to Master Mason.

Congrats on Sigma Chi :) They were great guys on my campus, and Derby Days was always one of the most fun weeks of the year. Wear the cross proudly!

Glad to hear you are excited about Sigma Chi.

Once you accept a bid from Sigma Chi, from that point on you are considered a Sigma Chi pledge and may wear shirts, etc., with the words "SIGMA CHI" or "SIGS" but not the Greek letters Sigma Chi (a national regulation).

However, before you run out and get shirts etc., please do as AlphaSigOU suggested and consult with your chapter. Most likely you will either be given shirts and/or told which ones are suitable for purchase.

Onward to Three Musketeers, which confirmed their Animal House stereotype in every way possible. The odd thing is, I actually got to really like these guys during this visit, especially after... well, I'm going to have to wait to tell you this story until after I finalize my bid. They invited me to go along with them partying, but I ended up declining. Still, I have to say these guys shot up from the back of the pack to #4. Excellent leap forward.

As for the 3 Musketeers story, I couldn't tell it because if anybody from that particular chapter came on here, they'd know it was them instantly and I didn't want to ruin any bid chances out there with any fraternity if I could help it. :D

So here's the story:

I'm hanging out at the 3 Musketeers house and the president's girlfriend shows up. I take a few sniffs of the air because I think I recognize the scent that's in the air. Sure enough, I do.

So I turn to the Prez's girl and grin, "You're wearing Passionate Kisses."

"Oh my god! Yes, I am! That's so awesome that you knew that!"

So naturally the rushers standing nearby, the President, his girlfriend, and the two friends of the girlfriend all wanted to know how I knew what scent she was wearing.

"Oh, I work at Victoria's Secret in my hometown", I casually reply.

"...We have GOT to keep this guy around!" exclaims El Presidente.

:D It was hilarious, especially seeing the envy/worship/admiration in the eyes of the rest of the guys. It's a reaction I often get from my fellow men when I reveal my place of employment back home.

And I think that's why I got the 3 Musketeers bid was because of that. :)

Yup I had a few male friends who worked stock at VS!!! It does happen
