Now, if someone comes up with a kid named Heineken, Absolut, Boone's Farm or Cold Duck, I'm just going to hang it up. I mean, don't people understand that at some point there is going to be a graduation and someone is going to call out Tequila Shaymonique D'Angenee Smith to get her diploma?

Tyler is another one I'm fond of. For boys names, I like some biblical ones like Jordan, Emmanuel, Joshua, Caleb,and Jacob. I also like Kenton, Justin, Austin [for a girl also], Cameron, Trevor, Julian, Spencer, Seth, Devin, Garrett, Cole, Bryce, Mason, Spencer, Connor and Diego.

Before our daugther was born, we went through the baby name books...to look for that perfect name! :) We decided to go with something simple to read (the first time around)! :) I worked for a woman who threw out someone's job application, because she could not figure out how to pronounce the womans name.

Me too, Yemaya!! My name is very different. I am named after to aunts---one of my dad's sisters and one of my mom's sisters. Their names are Tanji and Angela -- my name is Shatanjela (my mother added the "Sha"). I know that plenty of employers have thrown out my applications because they could not pronounce my name. I love it though --- It sets me apart. I don't know too many people with a name close to it --a few but not alot!!

I have to admit, I'm a traditionalist when it comes to names. However, I prefer names that are not common. [see the lists that I posted previously]

I have a unique name also. Franchon. pronounced FRAN-shawn. The trauma I endured from 1st grade through jr. high(not in HS cause most of the people there knew me from JR. High) from fellow students teasing me about my name was enough for me to chop it down to just Fran. Most people think it's Francis, which is ok with me because then I don't have to tell the whole story about my name.

I forgot to add, the good thing about my name is I use my full name in formal situations and my friends can just call me Fran.

I think with names, I 've always felt that a name should be suitable for not only a cute 2 year old, but a matured 80 year old woman. As far as my boss throwing out the resume, she should not have done that but she owned the company, so what can you do?

I was watching Jeporady! the other day and it was Kids week in D.C. There was a cute little boy on there by the name of OKEY pronounced O-Kay.:rolleyes: :rolleyes: What the he** were his parents thinking??

That is just too Funny! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! can you say Ghetto Fabulous!

just to name a few!

I called them all by their last names because I didn't feel like pronounce such unique names.

I swear that I read the roll for a class I was subbing for, and one girl was named Dominatrix. NO LIE! Fortunately, someone had enough sense to use her middle name for the roll. Her mama obviously didn't think about reactions when people hear her name at graduation or when she and her husband are introduced at the wedding reception.

I've also had Chablis in class, and it was a boy. :(

I have heard of a boy named Corvosier and I just wanted to shake my head. Why oh why???:rolleyes:
