I apologize if I wasn't clear. I was just making the point that there were more than three Williams sisters. That one that was killed was not the soror.

Having sexual disfunction does not make you famous.

I would like to add that as I stated in my initial post, THIS IS FOR FUN. I did not imply that famous people are important to a GLO. Obviously it is the unnamed majority that make things work. However, if I were to have started a thread that asked who you would most like to claim in your GLO, my response would have been Jennifer A_ _ _ _ who lives down the street from me. That would mean nothing to any of you because she isn't someone any of you know! Do you get where I am going with this? Famous people aren't more important than non-famous people, but because we all know who they are, we can facilitate a discussion.

If you are offended by this thread, by all means ignore it. I wish you would, in fact. Sheez.

When I was a pledge I was told for some unknown reason that Carol Burnett was an ADPi. Which made me think strongly about that "pulling the ear thing." But, alas that information was false.

So, it would have been cool if

Carol Burnett - Funny, Leader, Giver

Lisa Simpson - I mean the GPA alone. . . if she ever grows up - the future holds the presidency.

Anne Klein - Hello lion jewelery - another falsehood told to this little pledge.

One or both of the Olsen Twins - hello, great rush tool. (did they go greek?)

I read that Condi (sp?) Rice is an Alpha Chi Omega - I LOVE HER?

Fun Thread

Since this thread was first started, I've tried and tried to think of some famous musicians who I'd like for sisters, and you know, all the ones I'd really like to have...we already have! With the exception of Sheryl Crow, most of our famous members are not on the mainstream radar, but are VERY prominent in music circles.

The only mainstream artist I've been able to come up with is Carole King. I like the fact that she's a singer/songwriter (like Sheryl!), not just a pretty face. Anna Nalick would be cool, too, although she's not terribly famous (yet). I'm sure there are others...I just can't think of any.

It's funny you mention Anne Klein...I have a really cute pink and gold Anne Klein purse with the lion logo all over it. I've always thought it would be a good purse for a Phi Mu to own!

As long as we're dreaming:D

Every female governor and President. If male, then their wives. And their daughters....

Maybe that would remind other alumnae who "forget" or "don't have time" to remember their vows.

To heck with political affliations..our vows are taken for a lifetime.:D

Reagan was a TKE? Man, you'd think he'd have been more fun.
(just kidding).

Okay, I have to retract my statement. I would love to have Condi as a Delta. Although she and I are on opposite sides of the political equation, what she has accomplished as a Black woman is amazing. But alas, the NPC already has her.

Tom, can I make you an honorary Delta beaux? ;)

SurfinDBeach 07-10-2005 12:46 AM

lol...

Yep, Reagan was the prime example of a TKE...

We hear so much of President Reagans days in the White House... He regularly attended TKE national events, visited houses, had Tekes over at the White House regularly, greeted Tekes first whenever he went to different places to visit and even had a badge on him most of the time...

Theres a great story about how a Teke came into the White House with his wife - Ronald asked if she had been properly pinned... The Teke responded that he had not properly pinned her...

So Reagan reached somewhere and pulled out a badge, got on his knee, and sung the TKE Sweetheart song to her...

Life long example...

When he died, TKE National Officers and many many others attended memorial services...
and my Chapter president and Vice President were present at a special reception sometime after that at the Ranch here in California...

Every Teke across the nation wore a black ribbon under their badge for 14 days - a custom of ours when a Frater enters the Chapter Eternal...

That's really a sweet story...boys, take note!

SurfinDBeach 07-10-2005 01:00 AM

Best Part...

The best part about that was the fact that the Leader of the Free World had enough humility to get down on a knee and honor a wife/sweetheart that had not been properly honored in our customs...
:D

Hows that for a thought, eh?

I attended a Reagan TKE memorial at my school that was co-sponsored with a business fraternity that he was also a member of. (I went with my boyfriend who is a TKE) it was a very nice outdoor ceremony.
