Anyone see the South Park making fun of scientology? That was hilarious...but making fun of R. Kelly was funnier.

that was a funny episode... Scientology people are scary...
I used to have the Hots for tom cruise! but after all that crap that he has said about mental health, i decided no more!!
I think it is horrible to discourage people from getting the help that they need!! errr... famous people should not use their power for evil:eek:

that damn song has infested my life. I find myself singing "now my cat's in the closet! He won't come out of the closet! I'm gonna have hair on my black pants!" etc etc.

Now I wish I would have seen that South Park episode!!!

Scientology is scary. I'm like BSP-Nicole. I was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and if it weren't for psychiatry and antidepressants (thank you, LSU and Zoloft), I would have been dead a long time ago.

Unlike Nicole, my diagnosis was more recent: February '03.

BTW, I read Dianetics . What a waste of time.

That was the first South Park episode that I've watched in a very long time, and it was hilarious. I keep waiting to hear that Tom Cruise is suing for defamation of character, though. He seems the sort to try something like that.

My thoughts on scientology:

ROFL.

Tom Earp 11-21-2005 07:20 PM

BUT, They had Great Radio Voices!:D

Is This What One Calls a Sect?

The South Park episode was great - did you notice what they did with the credits on that episode?
As far a Scientology, http://www.clambake.org has some good information, and I also find Rick Ross's site interesting.
http://www.rickross.org (lots of different cults, not just Scientology). BTW, Narconon is a Scientology front, rather than a credible substance abuse treatment program.

devil's advocate here -

while scientology is crazy - it's prolly not THE craziest shit called religion out there (trust me - there's a cult about 15 minutes from my hometown!)

and - while i AM working on my master's in psychology and i LOVE psychology (yeah!) i do tend to believe that there are a TON of people who are drugged unnecessarily. bipolar and severe depression are OBVIOUSLY excluded from this - but i think there is a whole lotta nonsense related to having half of a third grade classroom on some kind of pills. edited to add : pills by themselves are NOT freaking therapy. people should stop looking at them like that...

back to the regularly scheduled crazy talk - cause i am certainly not signing up for a "silent birth"!

I find scientology no more dangerous than any other "mainstream religion."

Maybe if scientologists were around longer and had an opportunity to kill tens of thousands of people in a modern day "neo-crusade", they would be considered normal.

Tom Earp 01-06-2006 07:11 PM

OKAY!

Did It Help Tom whats His Name jump up on Oprahs Couch?

So what is Your Point? New Compared to Very Old?

A Cult or Not?

Maybe if they weren't made up 50 years ago by a science fiction writer and didn't profess things that modern thought would consider crazy-talk, they'd also be considered normal.

Say hi to xenu for me.

"Crazy Talk" - is when you point to a person that doesn't have the same religious preference as you and come to the realization that their ultimate destination will be an eternal damnation of suffering.

Be glad you were not born in Pakistan. - because if you were, you would be fuc*ed according to this belief.

Now... I admit the scientologists are crazy and somewhat dangerous. But, I would suggest they are no more dangerous than other so-called "mainstream" fundamentalist religious beliefs.

You're right, they don't carry out jihads. But they are weird. So are the people that have epilepsies in jail - they're not violent, but they creep me out.

Anti-Deperesents can be dangerous for people with bi-polar. I know because I used to take Lexapro and wound up shaking half dead on the bathroom floor because of it.

Scientology=no worse than most other religions.
