MY TWO CENTS
Hello all, I've read all of this thread and I think that it is very humorous how it was blown out of porportion. Regardless of who BluPizzaz is, she asked for opinions on a proposed question. So I think that I will give my two cents. I'm sure that with all of us being Greek we know that during slavery, many people were ripped from their families and tribes. Many slaves didn't even speak the same language but they banded together during these times of tribulation and became a family. This is not very far removed from how we act as members of the NPHC. No the Omegas are not the Deltas' brothers, nor are the Alphas the AKAs' brothers. However, because of a common cause and a deep history together, they have forged bonds that have stood the tests of time. As far as Iota and SGRho is concerned, we have a lot of things in common. We were founded last of the historically and predominantly African American Greek Letter Organizations and we are both small in numbers yet very fast in growth. On my campus there have been a number of alliances. The kappas sometimes stroll and have parties with AKA's, while at the same time they host several events with Delta Sigma Theta because of their "Crimson and Kream Konection". As an Iota I have helped SGRho and they have helped me. When people ask are they my sisters, I reply simply, "Yes". Not because I claim them as a soror, but because of the love and respect I have for all women. Whatever an outsider views my answer as is their problem. Simple things like Fraternity/Sorority alliances should not be discussed so dramatically as it is. Let it be. There are tons of other problems facing us and the only way any of us can overcome them is TOGETHER.
