I just ordered the starter kit from Sephora and got it this past Monday in the mail. It's okay but I had to go to a store in town (Zoe's) and buy the lightest color, Fair. The light and the fairly light that came in the kit were too yellow and they were awful to be honest. The fair seems to work pretty well. I never used foundation before except for undereye coverup and coverup for the occasional blemish. So this is all new to me. I am a make-up girl but base always seemed weird because it would cover up my freckles! My fiance said it looks good and so did some co-workers. So I'm going to keep on using it. It also came with Mineral Veil which is nice and the warmth. The warmth is way too dark! I mean they could have toned that done for a kit called, LIGHT! It made me look dirty, so I'm going to pass that onto my sister since she lives in FL now and is tan like 24-7! The brushes are very nice. I have hinted to my fiance I would love the compact for my birthday so I can use it during the day to touch up. So, I am going to keep on using it for now...it seems to work well and it does look very natural.
Does anyone have a favorite eye color they recommend? |

Ooops, sorry for screaming...as for the Warmth, just tap the top of the jar before opening and use that tiny bit of dust left in the lid to swirl, tap and buff. PS--check your email :) |

I really like the shadow liners, too. I use Soft Black or Coffee Bean for regular use (dry). I'll use them wet for evening. For evening I also like Sailor (wet). I am with AOIIalum on the warmth--just use what is in the lid, and be sure to use the face brush (not the kabuki brush because it picks up too much color). Sometimes I swipe a teeny bit of Warmth over my eyelids instead of shadow. For cheeks and face, you might want to use Glee or Beauty instead of warmth. These are "pinker" shades that I use, depending on which lip color I will be using that day. |
Soooooo Day One, and I think I just need getting used to this.
I liked that my makeup was a lot quicker to apply today.... and it looked pretty good initially.... but by 10:30 my face was already oily and kind of yucky :( Maybe it's because I didn't take any along to retouch, but I normally don't ever retouch my makeup during the day. Going into Day Two with some blotter sheets... blah. |
Eye shadows from bare minerals.............I'm kind of a collector so I'm not sure where to start but here are some that I have bought that I really like:
Get Started Eyes Collection Camoflage Colors Collection Fruit Smoothies Collection Kudos & Magnetize (From the Pure Moxie Collection) Drama (from Park Place Princess Collection) Eyeshadow Compact Quad (climbing ivy, camp, citrus twist, & chenille) I'm thinking about purchasing the new diamonds collection that only sephora is supposed to sell. I also like the all over radiance colors as eye shadows sometimes in addition to be used as blush. |
Soooooooo this may be a dumb question, but is Medium Tan lighter than Tan?
The picture on the box, and the powder itself looks lighter than tan, and the picture on the box makes it look lighter than tan, but I can't really tell on my skin which one is the lighter one and which one is the darker one. I used Medium Tan one day, and Tan the next, but they still make my face look darker? But I don't think I'm light enough to be part of their "medium" set??? |

And a super big THANK YOU to whoever said to try putting the mineral veil on first to control the shine. I tried that today and felt a little bit better about BM :) |

Every year for my birthday I indulge in new make up. This year I decided to try BM and I ordered the starter kit in fair. Katherine - I agree it is WAY too dark. I like it but I can't use the warmth. It is just way way too dark for this fair skin. I do really like the brushes and everything except the warmth.

I am a medium skin tone and even I am not a fan of "warmth" since it is so orangey. Instead, I use "faux tan" in the same way, which is a bronzer that is more brown instead of orange. Something to try or sample in a Sephora if warmth frustrates you.
