I couldn't wear my badge for most of the day due to what we needed to wear for composites, but I DID wear it to All Greek bible study tonight! There were quite a few fancy ladies sporting their quills, anchors, or in my case indented triangles tonight. Snaps to KSU's Panhellenic sororities. :)

But i was at work and wore the hell outta mine! :)

I wore my badge to class tonight - had a presentation to give, but I was so overly warm when I got to class I took my suit jacket off (where my badge was pinned on) and didn't wear it the entire night :(

But at least I got to say something about it to my grandma and family friends when I stopped there on the way home! :D

everyone asked why i was so dressed up, and most of the other girls ( a couple of our sororities initiated their pledge classes yesterday ) asked what my pin signified.

I didn't notice anyone at work wearing badges...doesn't mean no one did, just means I didn't see them. :)

I wore my plain badge. The top that I had on was red and gold flowers (looked better than it sounds, lol). Since we wear our badge over our hearts, it worked out to be in the middle of a red petal!:D

I switched tops at night but still wore it to Chapter.

I do enjoy wearing my badge, and wish I could wear it more often. But I don't think its appropriate to wear it with waders.

I wore mine...I didn't see too many other people wearing theirs though. I saw a lot of girls in badge attire-looking clothing, but none with pins. Kind of annoying, since I wore mine all day.

I was at clinic and had to wear scrubs, so I couldn't wear mine, but I did wear letters. I wore a phi mu ring and bracelet. Got some compliments on them too. :)

I noticed that many people referred to it as a "pin" not a "badge." Is there a specific reason for this? What is the proper term? Does it differ from organization to organization?

I don't think so. Notice I kind of used "badge" and "pin" interchangably. Generally speaking, I think the umbrella term is "badge," since pin could technically mean new member's pin or initiate's badge. But that's just my thoughts. Obviously, I refer to my new member pin as "new member pin," but my badge is a "Quill." I think the confusion would come when there is no name, such as "quill" or "key" for a badge.

In my organization, new members wear a pin. Initiated members wear a badge.

I think I will call mine my "quatrefoil." As in "I wore my quatrefoil on Founder's Day."

It differs from GLO to GLO. When I was an active, we only wore our pin as we got fined for saying "badge". Just yesterday, I was on our website and saw "Badge Order Form" and thought "WTH?"

Then, we had a few sisters who very lovingly referred to their pins as their "pooh" (as in "ADPooh"). Seriously, it was never meant as a derogatory term, and I find myself thinking of it as my "pooh" at times. It's just a chapter thing, I'm sure.

But, since I like your quadrafoil idea so much, from now on, I'm just calling it my diamond!

The Sigma Chi Badge

The badge, a Sigma Chi cross of gold and of white and black enamel, contains two chains connecting the upper arms. Crossed keys are on the upper arm, an eagle's head is on its right arm, and a scroll is on the left arm. Clasped hands and seven stars are on the lower arm. The Greek letters SC are in the centre of the badge. The symbols and borders are gold, with white background on each arm, and a black background in the centre.

When suitably dressed, initiated members of the Fraternity may wear the badge. It is worn on the left breast approximately midway between the waist and the neck. The upper arm is slanted slightly toward the left shoulder. The badge is to be worn on a collared shirt, pull-over sweater, or vest, but never on the lapel of a coat.

The Pledge Button

The Pledge Button is a small Norman Shield of blue bearing a white Sigma Chi cross. A pledge may wear his pin when suitably dressed in the same manner as the Badge is worn, except that the pledge button is to be worn on the lapel of a sport jacket or suit and should not be worn slanted.
