- I graduated with an engineering degree. My special research project I worked on is leaking whenever it rains. Not good for a CV. That said, I've never had an engineering job.

- I work in the arts and make way more money than I would as an entry-level bitch. Do what you love no matter your degree.

FOCUS:

- Rudey gave some of the best advice in this thread.

- Consider getting a full-time headhunter. I know my mother has had one since she graduated and she's always had a job in her career. (I have a full-time agent and publicist...my version of a headhunter.)

- Do you have multiple copies of your CV/resume? In addition to the hard copies, maybe have a personal website with an electronic version (in Adobe Acrobat PDF format) ready to go. Have some personal business cards made up? I know multiple and excessively multiple ways of getting in contact with somebody helps in the interviewing process - employers and HR people can easily lose information.

- Don't look only in the Atlanta-area if you're looking to get into the arts. Head for the major culture cities: NYC, LA, Seattle, Dallas, etc. That's what I had to do.

- If you want to work in the music industry, on the business side, I literally have my PDA FILLED with contacts. I used to work at Geffen Records before moving into A&R Management at Capitol Records...though nowadays I only work on a consultant basis for Capitol/EMI. Entry-level in the industry is 18 years old with no college degree.

Good luck!
