So I asked a HS senior what she thought of the dress. She didn't think that the cleavage was a big deal, but she didn't like the dress either. I think "Tacky" was the word that she used.

I'm sorry, but I would not let my daughter wear that dress that is made for strippers.

I agree. It's not the cleavage that's the issue to me -- it's the fact that the dress is, well, gross.

And as I told GeekyPenguin, if I had a daughter, I'd totally let her wear that to the prom. She would spend the entire evening sitting on the side of the room not dancing because she wouldn't be able to without her boob popping out of her dress. And in the future she'd never pick out another dress that stupid because she'd have memories of how her tacky dress ruined her senior prom.

I believe in learning through experience. ;)

I couldn't imagine a formal date wearing this, let alone a girl at a high school prom.

I just had to bump this when I saw it because after a mixture of shock and then laughter, I realized many girls I went to high school with would wear this. Gotta love small-town Texas....

i missed this the first time around...but holy canoli!!! i would lock my daughter in a closet if she even considered trying on this dress!! and i wouldn't let her out until she was 35!

I have to agree with everyone else. I wouldn't even wear it. Of course, I have a bit more bod than the model and would look gross in it.......

The only thing that dress is missing (well, besides material) are clear heels.

I wonder if they make that dress in white because I think that I just found my wedding gown! :p ;)

Why must you make fun of my favorite pair of shoes?

I completely agree with you. When I was in high school, we had our prom at the Disneyland Hotel & 2 girls were not allowed in b/c one wore a silver dress just like the one in the pic. Her MOM had made it for her. Now her friend wore a gold dress with the string going across her nipples. Not her boobs. Just her nipples. The same mom had made the dress. I was like WTF?!? What was that lady thinking?

Optimist Prime 02-15-2005 09:52 PM

I would let my daughter wear it, but...if my son's or daughter's date wore that, I would be fine with it. Especially if hot as model in the picture. I'd be like Hell yeah son!, Here is some money for a hotel room...don't come back untill at least noon

This just makes me think of that episode of MTV's True Life (i think it was called "True Life: I'm Going to Prom". There was this one girl that had her dress custom-made by a dressmaker, and the dress was super low-cut (the "neckline" was down to her bellybutton") and had a really high slit on the side. When she danced during prom, she was bending over and straddling her boyfriend (basically, think of the dancing that the scantily clad women in rap music videos do) and she kept popping out of her dress. MTV had blur probably more than 50% of the time she was dancing, and all the other girls at the prom were talking about how nasty and tasteless she looked.
