Babypeople get herpes from circumcision

Officials fear babies contracted herpes during circumcisions NEW YORK (AP) -- City health officials are investigating the death of a baby boy who was one of three infants to contract herpes after a rabbi circumcised them. Ten days after Rabbi Yitzhok Fischer performed religious circumcisions on twins last October, one died of herpes and the other tested positive for the virus, according to complaint filed by the health department in Manhattan Supreme Court. The complaint, reported in Wednesday's edition of the New York Daily News, also said health officials later found a third baby who had contracted herpes after being circumcised by Fischer in late 2003. Under Jewish law, a mohel -- someone who performs circumcisions -- draws blood from the circumcision wound. Most mohels do it by hand, but Fischer uses a rare practice where he uses his mouth. Fischer's lawyer, Mark Kurzmann, told the Daily News that Fischer was cooperating with the investigation, although it's unclear whether Fischer submitted to the city's request for a blood test. "My client is known internationally as a caring, skilled, and conscientious mohel," Kurzmann said. |

Mom Charged With Trying To Take Heroin To Son At School
POSTED: 2:05 pm EST February 3, 2005
FERNDALE, Mich. -- A woman is facing up to 20 years in prison after police said she tried to deliver a syringe full of heroin to her son at his suburban Detroit high school. Police acting on a tip arrested Sheila Black outside Ferndale High School Tuesday. The 41-year-old Metamora resident has been arraigned and will appear for a preliminary hearing scheduled next Thursday. Detectives said Black told police her son had threatened to hurt himself if he didn't get the heroin, so she agreed to buy the drug in Detroit and bring it to him during his lunch hour. http://www.wral.com/news/4160616/detail.html |

I was telling my mother tonight about this thread and she sent me her contribution:
6th-Grader Brings Cash Stolen From Baby Sitter To School CLEVELAND -- A Cleveland elementary school student brought more than $900 in cash to school and began distributing it to fellow students. But this generosity led to some questions at Bethune Elementary School, on Cleveland's east side, reported NewsChannel5. The sixth-grader reportedly stole the money, in $10 and $20 bills, from her baby sitter. A number of teachers noticed that several students were carrying a lot of cash. The money was quickly confiscated, and Cleveland police were called to the school to investigate. The student culprit was sent home, but no major disciplinary action will be taken against the student. Police is still trying to determine why the child's baby sitter was carrying so much money in cash. That family has lost a babysitter.:o |
Boy, 4, Drives Mom's Car To Video Store And Back
Police Don't Plan To File Charges
SAND LAKE, Mich. -- Michigan authorities don't plan to seek charges in the case of a 4-year-old boy who drove his mother's car to a video store and back. Sand Lake Police Chief Doug Heugel said the boy is too young to charge and his mother didn't even know he was awake. The chief said the boy walked out of his family apartment about 1:30 a.m. Friday and drove his mother's Geo Prizm a quarter mile to a video store. Finding it closed, the boy headed home. A police officer spotted him and followed the car back to the apartments, where the boy hit two parked cars, then backed into the officer's car. The mother said her son tried to drive before and she let him steer the car from her lap. |
