Hey, Snoopy

I may have saw you at the cabaret last night. If I knew who you were, I woulda gave you the info on Black Art Plus that I am about to give you now:

Black Art Plus is located at 43 Parsons Ave., one block south of E. Broad St. near the corner of Parsons and Oak in the Olde Towne District. The owner is George Miller, Phd. (a Que). The hours are Tue-Sat. 10-6:30, closed Sunday and Mondays.

I have been a regular there for nearly a decade and have purchased about $1000 worth of merchandise there, they are that good a business.

Hope this helps.

it's just so HARD to find UNIQUE items! And owned/operated by Black folks?

I go the College Crib catalog, because they said they had a lot of OES stuff, which they don't really, it's like what Beejae said about using the same mold for different orgs.

The watches were a bit much for me, though, a little too "pseudo bling bling" for my conservative tastes.

I think the "My mom/dad/big sister or brother is a" shirts are cute on lil tykes. I actually never had a problem with "Future Mason/Eastern Star" shirts on children, I think they're cute too. Just because it's on a shirt doesn't mean that child will be truly brainwashed! My cousin wore one for Kappa, and now he's a Sigma.

BTW, Does anyone know another Black-owned mail order service? With good selection? Or, a store in Ann Arbor? I'll be there in July.

Salience,
I live in Ann Arbor. Send me an email, perhaps I can help you find what you're looking for.

I am LMAO at the Kappa wine holder!!! What IS that! And those HORRIFIC Delta/AKA/SGRho/Zeta lamps! Why did that painted figure look like a streetwalker!

On the bright side, anyone who likes to do home crafts can get some good ideas from the site...

But most of their stuff was hugly!

I hope life isn't a big joke, because I don't get it. http://www.plauder-smilies.de/confangry.gif

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes. http://www.plauder-smilies.de/tiere/ride.gif

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind http://www.plauder-smilies.de/nut.gif

Thank you sorors for discussing protocol re: 'nalia. It shocks and amazes me when I see what things we (meaning many members) wear. I won't go into that--that's not for a public forum. BUT, we need to patron Black owned 'nalia shops and/or 'nalia vendors licensed by our National Headquarters. There, we will NOT (hopefully not) see shot glasses with our letters on it...adult future Delta t-shirts (great way to get snatched up)...Delta pillowcases and/or bed spreads...our greek letters in Chinese script (who knows what it REALLY says)... or our letters in patterns and designs (i.e. paisley print--what?!)...I could go on and on because I went to a white university and the GLO vendors came around with all sorts of things.

Sorors, is there a way that we can discuss 'nalia protocol without getting TOO specific on this public board? There are some things we need to discuss privately (we all need to remain abreast of protocol). Also, I think having terrible 'nalia (such as Sysqo's thongs) at National Conventions is the ULTIMATE infraction!!! What would Osceola think?!?!?!

How should you wear your sorority letters?

Sorors,

How do you feel about wearing your sorority letters across your butt? I have seen only a few sorors wearing them from the South and it is a total disgrace. The shorts are very tight and short.

BeeJae,

My Mom Loves her: My Daughter is a Delta T-Shirt. She did go to college and really doesn't understand "Greek Life", but she knows how important DST is too me and how hard I work for DST!

BeeJae, you did NOT see a Delta thong!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif Please tell me you didn't!! OH MY! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif

I think that the tissues/toilet paper is cute. Now, when I first saw it, http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif But then, one of my LS's gave me an idea that to this DAY I think is just adorable! She wants to have a bathroom in her house, that is NOT for use, that is decorated with all AKA stuff: towels, soap, toilet paper, etc. I have always wanted a room to showcase my stuff (after I get enough of it), but I had never thought of that idea.

I DO NOT, however, condone people blowing their noses or wiping their behinds with our letters. That is a given, and SERIOUSLY out of control.

I had to laugh at this one soror at our regional conference. This chile pulled out of her purse some pink and green polka dot tissues!! After I had finished chuckling and teasing her, I realized, I wanted some too!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/redface.gif

RENEEDST_22 10-17-2001 09:59 PM

Sorors,

Have any of you checked out www.simplygreek.com, they usually have some nice items????

Can someone please email me the site with the lamps?

:) :)

i've seen some terrible and tacky 'nalia, but i absolutely hate those "future delta" t-shirts. delta isn't a given for anyone. i've only seen them in children's sizes, but apparently they're made for perspectives also. interesting... i don't know much about the business world, but supply and demand is one of the simplest concepts out there. the bottom line is that as long as we are buying the 'nalia, it will continue to be made. we have more say so in this matter than i think we realize.

MY LS is going to order a navy pullover to put letters on, and I kept asking her "why?!" Then she replied, sassily, I might add, "why do you have a khaki-colored jacket?" So I just shut my mouth. It seems like most Greeks are branching out color-wise. :D
