Then finally, has anyone had larger animals roaming their neighborhoods???

A bull escaped from a rodeo and ran around my neighborhood early one Sunday morning about five years ago. The police had to shoot and kill the poor thing just a few blocks from my home. When my sister heard this, she said, "Barbeque in the 'hood!"

The wildlife stays away from my house because of my "wild wolf dog" (Alaskan Malamute). When they are in the yard, I let her out and they all scatter, fast. Even the squirrel who lives in my cherry tree! But, in the neighborhood, there are raccoons (who do get the garbage), skunks (who I smell but never see), woodchucks (who stay near the creek) and lots of mice. The neighborhood cat kills the mice and takes them to various neighbors' porches as presents.. so nice of him

I saw a deer in the neighbors yard one day. I was fascinated and went way to the back of my yard to get a better look. He was so still and calm. I ran to get a camera and ran back and he still hadn't moved. When I zoomed in on him with the camera, I realized... he was a statue.

As I said, I live pretty close to the country AND a park, so it's an odd day when Bambi doesn't come cruising the neighborhood. I've actually been late to work because of 11 deer in the road that wouldn't move. They also ate over 200 tulip bulbs I had planted, not exactly winning my heart.

I've also had a deer in my driveway when I pulled in, and hit the garage door opener before I saw the deer. Yep, Bambi went INTO the garage! I had a horrible time getting it out before I pulled in!

As for groundhogs, I was on first name basis with Animal Control for a while, as I was catching at least one a day in their "humane" trap (the trap is humane, but then they euthanize it). If you get a groundhog problem, the best way to get rid of them is to get some animal droppings, and put it where they hang out. They're very clean animals, and hate the scat! Since my brother has horses, that was pretty easy!
