Unfortunately, Eta Epsilon chapter @ Ringling has closed. See www.trisigma.org for more info.

I'm sad we're closing another chapter, but re-chartering is a plus.

I wonder if closing chapters is going to be a trend not only possibly in our organization, but all organizations as this financial crisis hits and possibly effects women's ability to afford not only college but sorority life.

We actually discussed this a bit in the Greek Life forum.

Naturally, if enrollment decreases, the number of women registering for recruitment and thus joining sororities is going to change. The economy is also bound to affect expansionary activity in some ways as well.

I want to amend my response to add...

ANY single letter chapters, though some of the schools don't have Greek life anymore. I will say especially the Delta Chapter at George Peabody (which is actually one of the colleges under Vanderbilt University.

WONDERFUL! I love hearing about closed chapters being re-chartered! Congratulations to the expansion team for their hard work! :) Plus it'll be our first/only active ND chapter! :]

Any idea when Beta Iota originally was chartered and when it closed?

I believe Beta Iota was chartered in 1947 and closed in 1988 (per irishpipes' big NPC thread).

Cruise4fun 11-06-2009 07:10 PM

For the National website:

Beta Iota was chartered in 4/11/1947 and remained open until 1988. Beta Iota was located at Minot State University in Minot, ND and has a total of 871 initiated members.

Thanks guys! Well I'm really thrilled they are coming back! :)

On a side note, do we know what happened with Wesley in DE or any other presentations we might have done recently?
