It is... I just didn't gain the weight until recently for some reason. (Or didn't think it would happen to me or was the cause of my slight weight gain... blah blah blah.)

Has anyone (or their "friend") tried an over-the-counter diet pill? Do they even work? If so, what brands work the best and what are the side effects?

I'll own up. I have tried the 24 Hour Fitness Brand (Apex, I think.) It's something called Fat Burn and works with your liver in breaking down fat quicker. I am supposed to be taking it after every meal according to my trainer, but that freaked me out. I maybe take one-a-day. It seemed to work for a little while, but now not so much (probably because i don't take them often) so they'll probably end up in the trash or something.

But other diet pills I see on TV ads: I dunno. After the whole ephedra scare, I am very skeptical about all that mess. Especially if you are trying to use the pill as a cure all. It even says on the ad "use with diet and exercise." But I don't think people get it.

I'll fess up. I have also tried an over the counter diet pill. Dexatrim. I had some nast problems that I think were associated with it. I started having some heart problems. Also, I had some numbness in the left side of my body. I spent several days in the hospital because if those problems. While I have no direct evidence the dexitrim is what caused the problems. I think that what did it. I quit taking thme after that and I haven't had symptoms like that since.

While I didn't think it was the cause for my weight gain, I am beginning to think it is. I wonder if I stop it, it will be easier to lose weight and keep it off. Nothing is more frustrating than working your ass off for a while and not losing a single pound. And if you do, you somehow gain it back in two days. I don't eat a whole lot. If I do, it's non fat stuff or fruit. If you can live without the birth control, it may help.

i know 2 women, both never had weight problems, who gained a TON of weight on depo. I think the big jolt may just be too much for your system to take all at once.

I am going to ride my bike right now and I am starting wieght watchers tomorrow!

Hey!!! It is okay, just get back into the routine, it does not hurt to splurge here and there. You will be fine. Keep up the exercise, and you can eat these foods from time to time. Keep riding that bike, biking is great cardio.
