I don't think so, it had glue on it though.

I got a George Foreman grill for my 18th from my mom... but I live at home and we already have an indoor grill that's bigger. It hasn't left the closet since.

Is it funny that I would be totally cool with some of these "terrible" presents? A Chia Pet, kitchen gear, etc. Well, I do like gardening and cooking so...

One of my aunts always give these weird artsy gifts that are often homemade. My mom got this flower in a glass ball that glowed when you plugged it in (paperweight?) one year. My sister pipes up, "It's a major award!" ("Christmas Story" anyone?) Sooo funny

Oh and last Christmas, my mom and I tried to start a joke gift that would passed around. We gave one aunt (actually the same artsy one) a Mr. Potato Head, but I guess she honestly liked it. We tried to jokingly go, "Oh, I wonder who'll get that next year!" but I think she's keeping it.

Oh and hell yes on the Wayne's World quote!

I think I was 9 and my older cousin (he was 11) gave me a toy jet fighter plane. At that time, I was very much a girly girl. Carried around my baby dolls and played with Barbie. A fighter jet--that was still in the paper bag. I guess it was the thought that counted.

For my 10th birthday--same Aunt as below, gave me a handmade Rosary. In retrospect it was beautiful in all ways. It was pink, which I loved. However, for someone that isn't Catholic, what in the world she gave me a Rosary for I will never know. Let's just say that, that year, Barbie had some beautiful jewlery.

When I was 26/27 my Aunt gave me a "desk toy" for Christmas--because she'd "forgotten" me, even though she was staying with my Mom and me at our house.

Once, my dad gave me foot cream. Last year, he didn't give me anything so I guess the foot cream wasn't bad in comparison...a true testament to our relationship.

OH!! Fun topic! I had an ex who was a bad gift giver!

He started off as a good gift giver...for our first Christmas together he got me a really pretty necklace and this stuffed animal (mind you that was an inside joke, and it was also high school). Simple, but cute. For Valentines day, I got a dozen roses and really good chocolates. Overdone, maybe, but still really nice...and like I said, REALLY good chocolates! lol

However, we ended up dating for 2 and a half years, and he just got really lazy and cheap. I hate calling people cheap, but he was VERY cheap. I'm not saying he had to splurge on me, but he had no expenses (besides gas, which he split with his bro) because his parents paid for everything. And he had a job, so he had money coming in. Again, I'm not saying he should spend tons of money on me...but he shouldn't be so blantently cheap...ah, you'll see what I mean...

Next Christmas I got Elf on DVD. Good choice--so far, so good. I go to put it in the DVD player, and I realized it doesn't have the plastic covering on it. I open it up, and take out the disc and realized theirs finger prints on the back. I asked him if he opened it, and then he told me he got it in the used DVD bin at Blockbuster. Okay, it was just a DVD, no big deal.

Next summer my b-day comes around. A lot of our mutual friends got really into frisbee that summer. Someone got this super cool light up one that you can play with at night. I mentioned I wanted one...not like OMG I HAVE TO HAVE ONE! But rather, if I saw one at the store, I might by it. My birthday comes, and I got a light-up frisbee. I think I played with it once.

Now here comes the lazy part...he started to not even try getting me presents on his own. When a present event came around, he just said we could go to the mall and he'd by me something (as long as it was around 25 bucks of course). He even pulled that on our 2 year anniversary. He said he wanted to get me a bracelet but he didn't know what I would like...so we go to a couple of jewelry stores, and I see one I like for $60. He asked if we could keep looking. I ended up with the $20 fake silver bracelet from one of the carts in the center of the mall. It eventually turned yellow.

Now, my current boyfriend did not start off well. However, we weren't dating yet, so I gave him a break...it's pretty funny to think about now, though, lol

My bf, who was then just a friend, my roommate, and his roommate, all became really close friends our first semester of college. We did a present exchange between the four of us, but it was kind of like, me and my roommate bought a joint gift for each guy, and him and his roommate bought a joint gift for each girl. The future bf and I were hanging out the day after they had gone shopping for our presents. He told me he was really excited to give us our presents--he thought they were good. I told him he could tell me what they got for my roommate. They bought her an LA Angels hat. Now, she's not sporty AT ALL, but she just pledged Pi Phi that semester, and because she talked about it non-stop, they had learned how angels are one of their symbols. When he told me that, all I could think was, "WOW, how sweet...these guys actually picked on up something like that...I can't WAIT to see what they (he) got me!"

Our little present exchange comes, and I open up mine. It's this big, tacky Puerto Rican flag belt buckle. He said they saw it, and it reminded them of me, because I recently told them I would be visiting family in PR over Christmas break. I just kind of laughed it off and thanked them. Later that night I get a Facebook message saying sorry that the present didn't live up to it's hype. "I'm sure you'll find some use for it!" Oh dear...

He's gotten VERY good at gifts though. :)

Gift

A friend of my Mother's gave us a lovely housewarming gift...an electric hot dog cooker! It was very sweet that she thought of us but we laughed ourselves silly after she left. I tried to use it once but it did not do a very good job so I had to cook the hot dogs manually...such a difficult chore!
