I have worn letters to Mass several times but Catholic Masses in Brooklyn are pretty casual especially the Saturday vigil or Sunday evening masses which I tend to go to b/c I don't want to get up early on Sunday. Most people wear jeans, t-shirts and sneakers to mass and only get dressed up for mass on Christmas and Easter.

I don't go to church very often mostly for holidays, weddings and funerals. But if I did attend church regularly I would only wear my lavalier and my class ring(which has my letters on it ), but it really wouldn't matter if I wore my letters because I go to The Newman Center on my campus so it is very college oriented and I have seen some fraters and sorors wearing letters and jeans, t-sirts, sandals, and shorts, which I was never allowed to wear to church when I was a child, my grandmother thought it was disrespectful for a female to wear anything but a skirt or dress to church.
If it was in springtime and a little chilly here in Flagstaff, then I would wear my active jacket to church, but take it off before I entered church and then put it back on upon exiting church. That to me would not be a problem or as some would say disrespectful. Oh almost forgot, I did wear my lettered sweatshirt to church ONE time, it was ASH Wednesday Mass and I had just come back from seeing the Passion, was sooooo emotional after the movie that I forgot that I had on my hoddie, it was the last time I wore it to any type of church service. I personally would ONLY wear jewelry or my badge(if we had a national badge) that had my letters on it to church. Just my personal opinion. |
I do wear my lavalier to church, every Sunday morning. It was fun the week all my friends came home and we knew who joined each organization by all the lavaliers in the room!

Lettered shirts at church functions: YES
Lettered shirts during worship services: NO but my Masonic pin and APO pin are appropriate. |
I go to mass at a very small chapel on campus (seats about 20) and people wear whatever there, so I've worn letters to church a lot.
When we go at home (we're Creasters) I wear my badge because it's always one of the more formal services. |

I do not find church to be "passe". What did you mean by this? |

casual...
My church is the now famous Saddleback Church here in South Orange County, CA...
We don't even dress up... Our pastor, Rick Warren (author of "The Purpose Driven Life") wears a Hawaiian shirt to all services... And yes, I have worn my TKE letters to Church... GO BEACH!!! |
Oh No! church to me is formal time and a badge is more appropiate to enter worship than letters on a t shirt or a sweatshirt UNLESS i was going to an informal church or a fellowship activity where it was casual.

Badge on Sundays....
I am in letters most days when I am dressed casually. Silver |
I wear my badge to church but usually try to dress up in more then a tshirt- therefore I rarely wear my letters. If I had a polo with my letters on it I'd probably wear it to church. I see no problem with wearing your letters to church as long as you look neat! :-D

SAIROSE. Passe', many people do not go to a Building to be near their God.
I beleive, and if I went, My Badge is firmly afixed to My Blazer. Yes, I would be proud to wear My Badge and Hope All do the same. If someone asks, I hope they will proudly say, This is My Fratrnity/Soroity and explain what it stands for. |
