Didn't read this whole thread, but did anyone ever see "Kids" when it came out? Very disturbing film that addresses this exact issue.

I did see Kids, yes. It was disturbing, yeah. But it dealt with a whole heap of other issues (violence, AIDS etc).

I don't see anything wrong with women who only want to have kids. It's ok, as long as they've had the "life experience" and aren't doing it at 15. I want to have kids too, but not until I finish my M.Ed, and have at least one book published.

My point exactly. If you want to have kids, that's wonderful. I'm just more concerned about people who aren't interesting in a job/career, education, or pursuing other interests. People who want to have kids the second they graduate high school (or even earlier).

But what if they come from a culture where they really aren't supposed to work? I know that girls from these cultures aren't making up the bulk of unwed teen moms, but they do have kids fairly early. In my M.Ed program, I have heard classmates, who are "real teachers" talk about parents who expect their daughters to marry straight after they graduate high school. They expect their sons to go into Engineering (or some other sciency/techy field) and their girls to be wives. In many cultures, parents have the ultimate control on their kids, girls and boys (I feel sorry for the guys too. They don't have much choice as to what they can study in university)

It's pretty shocking what some of these young children are doing. valkyrie, you're right on - often it is fellatio, with the girls receiving (and usually expecting) nothing in return. Sometimes it is full-out intercourse.

You can't tell horny people not to have sex. No one is hornier than in puberty. Having safe sex would be better than trying to keep all that bottled up. The ones who don't have sex usually turn into some kind of freak, cuz they don't know whats cool or what to do.

The girls I mentioned were born and raised in New York City. Generally, they have mothers who were teenagers when they were born. It becomes a cycle. Teenage girl becomes pregnant, drops out of high school, goes on welfare. WHen that baby becomes a teenager, she does the same thing. History repeats itself. You have 14 to 17 year old mothers who become grandmothers in their early to mid 30s. They don't see education as an option because it isn't emphasized as important. They don't have that as an example. BTW the number one reason girls drop out of hs in NYC is pregnancy.

Umm either that was a typo aephi alum, or that was an article about post-op transexual children or hermaphroditic kids. :cool:

it's some little rhyme thing I've heard before... but still, if I saw that on my 13 year old next door neighbour's (who might as well be my little sister) away message, I'd go over there and kick her butt before she had a chance to explain.

While we might have laughed over something similar at that age, I certainly wouldn't put it as my away message. That's just gross.

I'm actually more repulsed by the spelling than the actual rhyme, whatever that says about me. ;) Can you give me the link? I want to go be spelling Nazi on a bunch of 8th grade journals.

That's kind of disturbing. But it might be just something she heard and just thought it was "funny". She might really have a sensible head on her shoulders and wouldn't even think of having sex at such a young age.

Well, I mean, it could just be for the purpose of rhyming. "Fucking is a game"... Okay, what else rhymes with "Pain"?

I think it was just for the rhyme. "Fucking is a serious emotional investment".. well that just doesn't rhyme.

Maybe it could be:
F*cking is a game
STDs are lame.

not necessarily. some parents can go a long way to make sure their child knows things about sex and is well aware of the consequences/dangers and that tries to keep them from rushing into it, and still have their child go out and do things they don't want them too.

or you could have parents like my mom who pretty much encouraged it, as long as "it was safe!!!":rolleyes:

that's awful about the girls who start having sex young simply because they want to have kids. its also sad when sex is something done to gain popularity.
but i think for a lot of kids it might just be because they're curious.
