My first car was a 1995 Geo Prizm- GREEN! We called it Gumby. I got it in 2000, when I was 20. Mom and pops didn't believe in buying their kids cars so I had to get my own.
http://cars0.ipixmedia.com/abc/cars/...4830ca/i-1.JPG I drive a 2002 Mazda Miata MX5 now. I love this car... it is me.... Not too mention I got it for $5,000 under book! http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/imag...erior03_lg.jpg |
1984 Ford Tempo - known as LRT - Little Red Tempo. It was grandma's, she gave it to me when I turned 16 (it was Michigan, everyone has a car not just the spoiled kids) Worked great for years. When I got my next car I gave it to my cousin(1996). He continued to drive it for about 6 more years.
1992 Ford Escort GT - bought this used myself before my senior year in college. Loved it. Only got rid of it because dad called me up one morning asking if I wanted a brand new Cougar - I did! 2000/1? Mercury Cougar - They made a bunch of these 4 cylinder automatics. Then they realized with the new sporty look, no one would buy them - too slow. So they offered them to all the executives at Ford as an additional "company lease" car. I loved it and took it with me to NYC when I moved here. I turned it in at the end of the lease and was carless for a while. 2004 Volvo S40 - My current car - though it's really my finace's, I just drive it The lease is up soon and we are looking into the new hybrid Ford Escapes. Something like 40 mpg!!! |
Ok, I turned 16 in 1995...that should help everyone with the dates.
1992 VW Cabriolete Convertable - it was my first car. I got it in the summer of 1995 right before my 16th birthday and drove it until 2000. It was a great first car, but I ended up having problems with it and it was in the garage more than I was driving it so I had to say Good-by to Charlie. 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4WD - got this after my VW. Thanks Dad! :) I kept it from 2000-2002 when I got a new job and wanted a car with a warrenty since JJ had almost 70K miles - which is the point that Jeeps need to be overhauled. 1998 Acura 3.0 CL - I LOVE THIS CAR! I don't have it any more because I lost my job and couldn't afford to make the payments. So, I sold it to my mom (she paid it off and got a hell of a deal!). 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD- I got this car in the spring of 2003. I love it! Bertha is my baby and I plan to keep her for a VERY long time.   We'll see just how long I keep the Jeep. I do love it, but as you can tell I like to change things up pretty often. :) |
My first car:
1989 Ford Tempo...that piece of sh!t car caught on fire out of the blue. My next car: 1985 Plymouth Reliant "K" car. The "K" stands for killer because this grandpa-mobile's underside began to rust out. The engine almost fell out after I drove over a large bump in the road! After that: 1999 Honda Civic...its a perfect car and I LOVE it! I hate to sound unpatriotic, but I may NEVER buy an American car again. This car is now 5 years old and it runs like it just came out of the factory. It's parked at home an hour away in my parent's garage because now... ...currently: Chicago Transit Authority HEY! Have you seen the price of gas in Chicago!? :D |
My first car was a 1982 Mazda GLC. This was a total junker but it got me to and from school for years. When I was about to graduate from college my parents decided it was time to buy me a car that was reliable.
I then got a 1992 Honda Accord. I loved this car but it had some issues with repairs. It came from Mississippi and I am sure it was involved in some flood. About 3 years ago the oil pan gasket went out and cost me about $1300 to replace everything in the engine that it damaged. Two weeks later the A/C died. I decided I was done with it. My husband then bought me a 1992 Subaru Legacy. Nice car in the snow but not my favorite everday so we finally broke down and bought a 1995 Toyota Camry. I hate car payments so I refused to buy something that I couldn't pay for out of pocket. |
1984 Fiero
1994 Cavalier 1999 Silverado 2000 Monte Carlo 2001 Trans Am 2001 Sunfire 2002 Z06 Corvette 2003 Z06 Corvette 2003 Tracker 2004 Denali |
1986 Dodge Caravan - first car I ever drove. It was the family van so it wasn't really mine...but once I got my license I was the one who drove it the most. Of course, I ended up driving half the neighborhood to school every day. *heh*
1988 Acura Integra - hand-me-down from my mom. Drove it for several years. 1997 Saturn SC1 - First car I ever bought. Still driving it. |
I've only had 2 cars...
'88(?) Nissan Pulsar - my Barbie car. It was gray with a pink stripe just like the barbie car I had when I was little. My parents bought it for me when I got my license (so, 1995). It lasted through high school up to about a week after I got to college. '95 Olds Achieva - my first car I bought on my own in 1997 (so 2 years old) with 100,000 miles on it :) It's still going strong, but I'm not sure for how much longer! Mr. Ginger has a 2003 Toyota Corolla that he bought new, and will probably become my car when the Achieva dies. After that, depending on when that happens, we'll either buy a new Corolla (we really like his car), or, a BMW Z4. Slightly different, hey? :) |
1986 Chevy Blazer Tahoe Edition.. my first car.
1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra S - got this when my Blazer died 2001 BMW 325i - I had this for a summer from my dad. He eventually took it back because he decided he did like it after-all :( now.. I have a 1998 Buick Skylark (*gag* I dislike it, but it is a car.) I need to get our of the Grammy Car lines.. :p |
Started off with a 1992 Ford Taurus, which was 5 years old when I got it
The air conditioning died on the Taurus so I drove a 1989 Buick LeSabre for a few months last summer And then I got my 2003 Honda Civic and I love it! :) |
learned how to drive on a 1994 olds bravada (my moms truck)... the greatest automobile ive ever driven... until its untimely death in 2001 when my cousin totalled it, sliding it 40 ft down a road... and i wasnt even there for it :(
then cont. to drive my moms new car, a 2000 olds intrigue, which is the biggest hugest boat car EVER for a fresh driver.. drove that til i moved here to vegas in 2003, ultimately buying the spawn of satan - a 2002 Saturn SC1. no options but a CD player.. worst was no automatic windows - you NEED auto windows in the desert people... and no power locks - always forgot to lock my car, or spent several minutes trying to find the non existant clicker on my keychain...... drove the "satty" until nov of 2003, when i drove it up a 7ft median... (so i didnt see the road shift, in pure daylight WHOOPS!) i had to be the most excited person when that happend.... and finally, the new love of my life - my 2001 VW Jetta. its navy blue with a nice sparkley shine to it, and it has the greatest soundsystem, a moonroof, power EVERYTHING and of course the lights inside are just too cool :) and i just bought her in April, and she only had 26,000 miles on it .... AWESOME :) i love her :D |
I was blessed with an excellent memory (which I destroyed in HS and college) and my Dad once promised me a car when I got my DL. So, when I was 16 I got:
1980 Honda Accord - drove it everywhere - and on the off-chance that I went to class, I'd lend it to friends. It had this inexplicable tendancy to DIE while making turns. Yet, I think its official demise was "Death by Crash"... 1980 Renault Alliance - a real P.O.S. I totalled this one in an alcoholic blackout. (No lectures please! I no longer drink.) 1978 Mercury Zephyr - inherited this one from grandpa. don't think it went over 70MPH. Eventually it stopped going in Reverse. 1992 Jetta GL - friend of mom's wanted out of his lease early so I assumed it. And, my love affair with Jetta's began! When the lease expired, i leased a... 1996 Jetta GL - the love affair continued, the lease expired and I leased a... 2000 Jetta GLS - my FIRST stick shift!! (I was 30 years old - figgured it was 'bout time!) Still wish I had bought the car at lease-end. My now-ex wanted a Jeep so I inherited a 1998 BMW 528i - what's not to like about it? a) the speeding tickets that I collect b/c I can do 90 in 3rd and it just purrrrrrs along! b) the maintenance costs an arm and a leg! and now that we're divorced, I'll be going back to my JETTAS!! |
For my quinceanera, sweet 16, and high school grad, I got my first ever (and only car) on my 16th birthday - a 2000 Chevy Blazer ZR2. It's got the tighter suspensions, the skid plate, the wider stance, and it's 4WD so it's great fun for offroad. It also has a 6-disc changer and a Bose system. It's my baby ( :) )and it will be 5yrs old this October. That car has seen me through good, bad, and indifferent. I may have to throw it its own little party in October when I turn 21.
