When I was little, I used to be afraid of escalators (the down escalators in particular) and beards. I am OK with them now though.
I'm very bad at ball sports because when the ball comes sailing toward me, I duck instead of trying to catch it or hit it. :D And I like to look at fish but I don't like to touch fish. Eww. I think this stems from when I had a fish tank as a little kid, and the top was off one day and one of my fish jumped out of the tank and onto the floor...and I stepped on it with bare feet. EEK! |
I'm also scared of any water that I can't see the bottom of.
When I was very little, I was TERRIFIED of toilets flushing. |
Bugs and stuff that just drop out of nowhere. I can handle them if I see them first, but when there's nothing and then WHABAM! a spider right in front of my face, I freak. I can trace this back to a sweet corn picking incident when I was about 6. There I was, happily running through the rows when WHABAM! I ran into a huge garden spider web (those things are freakin huge and uuuugly if you've never seen one.) I ran back out screaming my head off. Scarred me for life, it did.
Other than that, I can handle pretty much anything else. |
I'm afraid of clowns. Other than that, I'm more intolerant as opposed to being afraid - I can't sleep with an open door or closet.
|
Oh, I agree with people who are scared of frogs. We have these frogs that perch themselves right above the door to my parent's house and I swear to god, I have to make the mad dash through the door because I am sure they are going to jump on my head(getting heebie jeebies just thinking of it!!).
I also don't like to have my shower curtain closed at night. Its fine closed during the day but if I get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and the curtain isn't open, I am SURE there is someone in there that is waiting to jump out!! |
I don't like birds. They freak me out and I don't know why. I was in the vet last night and some kid brought in a bird with a broken wing he found on the street. The thing freaked me out. LOL.

Movies about the world coming to an end or something weird happening. i.e Indy Day, Signs, The Day After Tomorrow.
Any games that require balls to be thrown or kicked. Had a bad experience in gym as a child.:( |
Clowns!!!
The potential of having my skirt or dress getting caught up in my stockings and unintentionally flashing people. Having horrific flatulence, snoring, or talking in my sleep when I am sleeping in a group setting (church retreats, airplane etc). The smell of the metal part of a plastic retail hanger, and other cheap metals. It smells so disgusting. Tripping and knocking my teeth out. The scary worms and compost my mother has for her organic gardening. When there are PLENTY of open available seats, and someone has to sit RIGHT next to you. Fellini's movie "Satyricon", it is very disturbing and I had to watch it twice in the past two weeks for class. |
Butterflies.
They creep me out BIG time....always have. The way they flit around and try to land on you with those wiry legs (AAAAGH). My husband and I went to a fair once and they had a MONARCH display. Hundreds of those mofos flitting around. Thought I was going to DIE. ETA: post 1450 woo hoo :D |
I forgot to add one.
I remembered this today while I was at a meeting at the top floor of our office building. My office is on the first floor so I usually never have to worry about elevators. I won't ever stick my hand out to stop an elevator door from closing. I've heard too many stories about the elevator doors failing to sense an object against it and taking off someone's arm. Some poor woman was running up to the elevator as the doors were closing. I tried to press the door open button but couldn't get to it on time. I could've held my arm out but I have a weird fear that the thought of sticking my arm out gives me the heebie jeebies. The woman probably thinks I'm such a bitch. |
spandex... especially on those who shouldn't be wearing it:(
Edit: I take that back, no one should ever wear spandex. Thx |
My sister (the one who gavew me the drain phobia thing) and I were talking about this today and she is deathly afraid of roaches. Shes a teacher and she saw one in the hall today near her classroom, made another teacher go kill it and the teacher was all, "You do it!" so my sister said, "I'll buy your lunch if you kill it." She did. Lunch was on my sister. We were raised together and roaches dotn phase me at all. One even fell on me, and ran down the inside of my shirt a few years ago. No big deal for me.
My sister wont live in north Houston becasue she heard that Roaches like to live in the pine trees there. |

High bridges with low guard rails - Think Sunshine Skyway for the Florida people... Oddly enough I am not normally afraid of heights
