This sounds just like my mom's family! Gramma had 15 live births, two sets of twins (one set that died three days after birth), and one miscarriage! She WANTED thirteen children! Most of the kids are named with 'J' too...eight of the fifteen.

Big families are fun, but the cost of living today is a major component for choosing otherwise! I have much respect for ANYONE who choses to go through that hell (L&D) that many times! I've done it once, and I'm not exactly in a hurry to do it again!

Oh yeah...y'all are cracking me up!

Arkansas mother gives birth to 16th child

By MELISSA NELSON
Associated Press Writer

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- Michelle Duggar just delivered her 16th child, and she's already thinking about doing it again.

Johannah Faith Duggar was born at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and weighed 7 pounds, 6.5 ounces.

The baby's father, Jim Bob Duggar, a former state representative, said Wednesday that mother and child were doing well.

He said Johannah's birth was especially exciting because it was the first time in eight years the family has had a girl.

Jim Bob Duggar, 40, said he and Michelle, 39, want more children.

"We both just love children and we consider each a blessing from the Lord. I have asked Michelle if she wants more and she said yes, if the Lord wants to give us some she will accept them," he said.

The Discovery Health Channel filmed Johannah's birth and plans to air a show about the family of 18 next May.

The Learning Channel is doing another show about the family's construction project, a 7,000-square foot house that should be finished before Christmas. The home, which the family has been building for two years, will have nine bathrooms, dormitory-style bedrooms for the girls and boys, a commercial kitchen, four washing machines and four dryers.

Jim Bob Duggar, who sells real estate, previously lost his bid for the U.S. Senate. He said he expects to run for the state Senate next year but isn't ready to make a formal announcement.

Michelle Duggar had her first child at age 21, four years after the couple married.

Their children include two sets of twins, and each child has a name beginning with the letter "J": Joshua, 17; John David, 15; Janna, 15; Jill, 14; Jessa, 12; Jinger, 11; Joseph, 10; Josiah, 9; Joy-Anna, 8; Jeremiah, 6; Jedidiah, 6; Jason, 5; James, 4; Justin, 2; and Jackson Levi, 1.

No words. On the other hand, as long as my tax dollars aren't going to support them, she could have as many babypeople as she wants to.

Big ups to her uterus because that WILL NOT be me!

CrimsonTide4 10-12-2005 07:35 PM

Dear Jim Bob and Michelle,

She must not experience any pain 'caus after what I went thru - esp this last one - AINT.NO.WAY!

I saw them on the Discovery Channel about two months ago and the wife was about to give birth to the youngest boy (so that was last year). They showed how they travel around town, shop for groceries and how they are building the house, which they are still building.

And on top of that, she HOMESCHOOLS them. I'm sorry, but if I had 16 kids, they are going to someone's classroom because I would go crazy seeing them 24/7. Both of the parents must have the patence of Job.

LMAO at CT4 throwing a uterus retirement party, that's got to be a GC first. I suggest we not hate though, cause Jim Bob obviously has the magic stick....even out in Utah, or Arkansas?

* Jim Bob, resplendent in his new bib overalls, feeling like da isht as he looks over his vast progeny assembled at the family compound. Preparing to shuck corn, he begins to feel it, and sets out a nasty fertility hop.....

"...I can stick once, I can stick twice, I got the magic stick... maaa-aa-gic, maaa-aa-gic."

Mrs. Jim Bob: "You betta stop J.B. I'm gettin' the vapors!" :)

I am weaker than SWV!!!!! LMAO!!!!!

Boom_Quack13 10-12-2005 08:46 PM

The whole family dresses funny.

Ditto. But is it really necessary to have that many children? I'm waiting for the next headline to read "Woman’s uterus self ejects...story on page 4":o

If they love and are taking care of their kids, more power to them. Obviously they can take care of them because they continue to have them.

I know THIS body won't be spitting out 16 babies.

DSTinguished1 10-12-2005 10:42 PM

Maaaaan. Its going to get to a point where kids are just going to start walking out of her "area"

That happened to my mother on her FIRST child (my brother), which is why she only had two children, and that there's so many years between us!! She had a sadistic doctor, strained too much, and ended up having to have her womb wired back inside. *shudder*

At my last church, there was a family about this same age who didn't believe in birth control - even after the second child was severely brain damaged. At last count, they had 20 children. There was a photo in the paper of the eldest daughter, who was 19 at the time, with a baby in her one arm & a toddler in her lap. Oh, and of course the girls all wore jumpers, too!

It's the Cult of the Jumper People!!!!

And they're all required to learn how to play the violin!

The funniest part was when they showed them getting together with that other large family. Apparently they were trying to pawn off the oldest boy to their oldest girl.
