My Take on Mr Cosby
I have notice changes in Mr Cosby since the paternity suit incident. I realize that he has had some challenges in his life but I would think his training would give him a little more insight to the facts and the contributions to the situation of the "underclass ". He seems to forget that he made a fortune off of a cartoon where folks did not always speak with "proper" English. Was it bad for kids to emulate Fat Albert and his crew? Did Mr Crosby insist that the corporations he sold products for adopt a community and fund programs that would improve the lifestyle of any of the families that were buying
for example. I am puzzled that Mr. Cosby does not understand that if you are poor and have no hope you are vulnerable to hanging out and fitting in with language and actions just to know that you count. If you are rich you just hang in different places and you talk about designer drugs, clothes, and hot spots, contributions are for memberships to clubs and schools for publicity and to keep your errant children in.. If he has a formula for helping young people give a damn he should not keep it a secret. If he has examples then he should present them. If he has an active program that he supports that worked with the entire picture then he should show it. We have too many people that know what is wrong but not enough that is willing to get close and uncomfortable to do something about it. We want folk to genuflect for everything we do why not do it even if you don't get appreciation. Don't sell out to Wall Street or Madison Ave get your fat check and talk about folk who "ain't" moving. Hell these are the same people that bought the products you hawked and watch the shows you were on and cheered you on through your situations with your children. What he said is true and every one he said it to and for knows there is a problem. His remarks were inappropriate because he did not present anything to solve the problems or how to attack the problem core. I wonder if he thinks a man would feel better about bringing his children jello pudding or designer sneakers. Because you know we have gotten to the point that it is about how we feel not how we live. Understanding that before you can talk about or criticize someone's priorities you need to have some means of defining what priority is and how to identify a priority. If you have a generation of miss educated folks that were begat by a generation of miss educated folks that were begat by a generation of I got mine you got your to get. OH well as usual we get distracted by the results and have no time for the root.
