That's not the take I got from the responses. I thought the same thing, about the search engines, but if they ask a question why not answer the question so we can move the discussion along?

Hip Hop is not something that everyone may just want to research.

But that's just me. I like to answer questions.

The only thing I knew about him was that he was on MTV. I personally don't care for what I've heard on there, so I really don't know anything else about him. I don't think people are trying to shield others from Kanye West knowledge.

his cd college dropout is fabulous - if only for the fact that he has a picture of jamie foxx from high school in the sleeve and it's hilarious ;)

Dude, the guy's smart, quick witted, and I used to like him. But man, I've never heard anyone talk about rap as ignorantly as I have sometimes seen on the Factor.

Is that really necessary? As a fellow educator, I would have expected you to take the high road there. :(

So I didn't like his music at first, but then I actually listened to his rap on "Through the Wire" rather than the annoying chick in the background, and now I'm in love with "All Falls Down..."

"Man I promise, she's so self-conscious.
She has no idea what she's doing in college.
The major that she majored in don't make no money,
But she won't drop out, her parent's will look at her funny.
Now tell me that ain't insecure,
The concept of school seems so secure..."

Who in college can't relate to that?

Yeah, that's the story of my life.

I willing to make the safe assumption that abaici was being sarcastic, hence the rolling eyes smilie. She knows that having keg parties is not the only thing that fraternity men involve themselves with.

Anyway, for those of you who are still confused as to Kanye West is, Laidbackfella posted the website. If you haven't purchased or listened to Kanye's CD, don't be so quick to make opinions on the man.

Kanye

WOW i haven't posted in a million and three years. Anyway i just had to post a response to what some ppl have said...

I don't know the song "Through the fire" someone said his latest song is a remake of that.... but it's more than that.... he did this def poetry thing called "self concious" and his song "through the wire" is that put to a beat... it's a very good song if you listen to the words

there is more to the line in "school spirit"
"Red and white One's, yeah that's my Kappa style
And I ain't even pledge"

SO i doubt that is the frat he "depledged" from or whatever.

Kanye is one of the most talented mainstream artists out there.... regardless of who or what he is bitter towards....

Okay i just had to say those things.....

"To the hustlas, killers, murderers, drug dealers even the strippers
To the victims of Welfare for we living in hell here hell yeah
Now hear ye hear ye want to see Thee more clearly
I know he hear me when my feet get weary
Cuz we're the almost nearly extinct
We rappers are role models we rap we don't think
I ain't here to argue about his facial features
Or here to convert atheists into believers
I'm just trying to say the way school need teachers
The way Kathie Lee needed Regis that's the way yall need Jesus
So here go my single dog radio needs this
They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus
That means guns, sex, lies, video tapes
But if I talk about God my record won't get played Huh?
Well let this take away from my spins
Which will probably take away from my ends
Then I hope this take away from my sins
And bring the day that I'm dreaming about
Next time I'm in the club everybody screaming out"

Another of my favorite lines from that song, and CarolinaCutie loves it too...

"I wanna act ballerific, like it's all terrific.
I got a couple past due bills, I won't get specific.
I got a problem with spending before I get it..."

Oooh girl that's my life STORY right there... probably not somethin' to be proud of though :o

Right now I don't think I could EVER tire of Kanye. I'm still spinning the CD and playing all of the songs he chose not to put on there that are still superhot. He puts soul into things that otherwise could not be salvaged (ahem Brandy's new joint).

If you have not heard of Kanye, but you like rap music (which seems like an oxymoron of sorts but whatev), definitely check him out!

Honeykiss1974 05-20-2004 11:47 AM

Someone can have my copy of his CD because I think sucks like a Hoover except for like 1 or 2 songs. :(

I think I'm just not feeling rap music anymore.

I agree with abaici's sentiments that he may be turning impressionable youth off from college. Not saying that college is the "end all, be all" but it does open up opportunities that our youth may otherwise never know.

Oh, back to the original question, I think the org was either Iota or KAY.

You didn't read the same things that I was reading from previous posts.

Look back on the first page at the question texas*princess wrote and look at the responses she received. I didn't say that they were shielding.

But at least answer the woman's question.
