OK you're right. I know what my experience has been and don't really care too much about anyone else's. The funny thing is that you keep bringing up Chicago and my education. If you really want me to beat on Syracuse that bad I'd rather not - Chicago Economics is what it is...Syracuse is...what it is. That is all.

And I have actually read the Fed report. You know what's funny? When the Fed offered me a job. You know what's also funny? When I turned it down to work 2 blocks away so that my bonus would be equal to what my salary at the Fed would have been. Perhaps you should spend time reading other Fed writeups. Good luck.

I keep bringing it up not in a serious way, but as a joke, because you are always harping on how smart you are and how amazing your school is and how amazing your job is and how much money you make. This is not the only thread where you've tried to belittle someone because you're "so much smarter". If you're so smart, why dont you just sit back and stop bragging and let your intelligence speak for itself. I have a lot of respect for Chicago and the programs there, which I am sure you made the most of. It just so happens though that there are other excellent universities with excellent programs that attract very smart people and subsequently enable graduates to find excellent positions making lots of money. You're not the only smart kid out there with a great degree and a great job.

As for the Fed and salaries, yes, it's a goverment job, so the salaries are indeed lower than comparable positions in the private sector. Once again though, your ego is getting away with you - you asked for a creditable source, NOT where you can go to earn the most money. I'm really happy you have a good job and that you had the opportunity to work at the Federal Reserve. That's not the point though - when it comes to unbiased information about the state of the economy, The Federal Reserve is about as credible as it gets.

Actually again as a testament to the fact that you know very little about Economics and Economic institutions, the Fed is not a "government job" - it is a public and private conglomerate.

By the way I work in municipal finance investment banking. Every single day it's my job to know what's going on with government finance and economics even though I'm not with the research group. I am a member of one of the firms issuing several hundred million dollars worth of debt for the state of california and have listened to Phil Angelides blab on and on in meetings and conference calls. Next week, since my team is the senior underwriter for 250 million dollars in debt for the State of Connecticut, we are meeting face to face with Connecticut's state treasurer.

That is what I do. I know debt for sectors, industries, governments and states. In fact I could tell you how the small village of riverdale (which nobody has heard of) is doing economically.

My firm has 2 people who are among the top 5 contributors to the Kerry campaign. When Kerry was in Chicago I was escorted into his rally by Chicago and Illinois government officials - all Democrats.

In terms of education, experience and credentials, we are nothing alike.

You are not the first person to get a job offer at the Fed. I just so happen to know that while it may be a public and private conglomerate, the Fed operates within a structure similar to the Federal Paygrade and employees of the Federal Reserve qualify for all the benefits of federal employees, including insurance and the federal retirement plan. It is a public sector salary. That is what I meant.

And once again, as I said before, you have a great job, and that's neat what you do. But I know what you are - you're an entry level analyst. You listen in on conference calls but you're not making decisions. You're doing research and making copies for someone else who is much much much higher up than you. It's great experience, but maybe you shouldn't act so superior to others until you're actually an important person there. Until Phil Angelides says, "I can't make this decision without consulting Rudey first" you are not that great. There are other people out there who could do your job just as well.

I couldn't give a rats ass about you being escorted to a Kerry rally or that people in your firm are top contributors to his campaign. Do you think that makes you special? Great, I work in DC and there are goverment officials in my firm ALL THE TIME. No seriously. ALL THE TIME. They just walk around. I'm not kidding. We have several HUGE contracts for rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan and Powell personally requested our services. He came to our building and I saw him at the Starbucks downstairs. I have personally met the Secretary of the Department of the Interior and have spoken several times on the phone with the Deputy Secretary.

Oh and hey, my friend from school, she does casting for Queer Eye for the Straight guy - so by your thinking, not only am i superior through my firms extensive contact with important people in the government, but I am also incredibly hip and could probably have an extremely successful career in show business. Stop trying to act like the people you come into contact with make you a better or more important person.

I don't pretend there aren't those higher than me. The structure is Analyst, Associate, VP, Senior VP, and then MD. I am an analyst. There is support staff below me. We have secretaries and people who handle production. We have interns who take notes on conference calls. For me to get paid at such a high rate would mean I'd have to be doing something that someone else couldn't. For me to get this job, my firm recruited at 14 schools. In my school alone 30 people were interviewed for the first round. By the third round I and only one other girl got an offer. There are others that can do my job, and guess what? They have the same job.

The people I meet, I meet. I shake their hands. You see them at a distance.

Now let's talk about you. You went to Syracuse and majored in Economics. Problem number one is Syracuse. Problem number 2 is you don't understand Economics. Now tell us about your work experience. We should talk about you now. It's only fair. You have an inferiority complex. Most people just shut up but you keep talking so why don't you talk and tell us about your experience and credentials.

He is right on the Chicago Econ thing, friends. I don't know of a single econ major who doesn't, at least occasionally, wish they were at Chicago. No other school comes close.

You dont know anything about me. I love everything about my current situation, and have no inferiority complex whatsoever. I loved Syracuse more than anything, and I am very proud to have gone there. I wouldn't change a thing. I also majored in biology.

I love my job. I'm a senior analyst. I was promoted from analyst to senior analyst in 8 months, which is considered record time. I love my firm. It is one of the largest management and information technology consulting firms in the world, and I am very proud to be a part of that. I guess you must be thinking that no other firms besides yours have rounds of interviews and recruit at multiple schools, but that is not the case. I made it through three rounds of interviews as well and was the only person from my school to receive an offer at my firm at that time.

As I've said before, I've shaken hands and spoken to some fairly important people as well. At my internship 2 years ago, I had lunch at the Senior PGA Championship as a personal guest of the CEO of Morgan Stanley. My firm's CEO knows me by name and sight. Who cares?

I wasn't trying to belittle what you do. I think task-wise (not content wise) we have very similar jobs. I research. I make spreadsheets. I work on proposals and RFIs, and sometimes I'm the team lead. I present recommendations to my MD. My point was that your job doesn't make you better. I dont think my job makes me better. I would have never mentioned it had you not asked.

I don't know why I kept up the argument with you for so long Rudey. I just wish you wouldn't always act like you're better than everyone else because of where you went to school, or what your job is, or how much money you make. There are a lot of people right here on these boards with great degrees and great jobs who are very smart. Brag if you want, but do it when you actually have something concrete to brag about.
