And.... sometimes unmarried women will wear a ring just to avoid getting hit on by skeezy men in bars. :p (Edited to add: A fake wedding ring might also stop strangers from asking you why you aren't married. Hmmmm... ;) ) |
I usually say, when men learn what commitment to someone means, then I'll prolly be married some day.

It's funny because while I was in college, my mother tried to run off every guy I dated because she didn't want to see me drop out to get married. Now that I've graduated and in grad school, I'm criticized for not being married/engaged. I can't win:(
|
Besides the fact that I have an 11-year old daughter to think about, I just finished graduate school & while in grad school, didn't have time for a relationship. Having kids will definitely make most of us be more cautious about getting involved. Can't have any & everybody around the children.

I guess I have a little bit of a different take on the situation. I get the whole "why aren't you married" and "when you getting married" questions alot. Yes I am still single with no children and happy. I am not married because I haven't found a man that can make me completly happy and that I can do the same for him. Right now I am dating someone that is in school (get that JD baby!!!!!!!) and I don't have a problem with him having his space to study or anything else that he needs. I know how important that is to him and I won't stand in his way. But he also makes time for us when he can. True we may not be able to spend as much time together as other people do but I'll be okay. I got a life to live too. Just cuz I'm not up under him 24/7 doesn't mean that he doesn't care or that i don't care. And to be honest he is probably the best relationship that i have had in a longggggggg time. (talking about making a girl smile :) )

is it rude to say "I'm not married b/c I don't want a marriage like yours"?????
|
Wow.
Yeah, that is kind of rude, and yet, it may be the truth. What to do, what to do...
|
rho4life, here's whatcha do......
If anyone else asks you why you're not married, you can either:
1) Recite the first quote to my siggy!!! :D  :p If they don't understand, then fuhgeddaboudit b/c they just too stoopid to know WTH you're talking about. ;) OR 2) Tell them that if they're willing to consolidate both of your credit card debt, and still pay for the wedding, then you'll get married. :D |
It's weird b/c I don't go around aksign them about their life choices. The only time I would ever ask someone when they're getting married is when they've gotten engaged. ughhhh

That doesn't work for family. That's just gross :( |
LOL.... :D Yeah, that does not work for family....
|
Yeah, and then they should leave you alone...:D

Because I refuse to settle. Some men have some traits that I refuse to deal with "till death do us part".
I think some folks are more in love with the idea of a wedding and getting married than with the concept of marriage. Plus forever is a long @rse time! I have to be certain cause I'm in it for the long haul. To date, no one has inspired me as such. *shrug* I used to use the "i'm still accomplishing my goals piece" but now that I've been able to check a few things off of my life's "to do" list, I'm looking around for Mr. Right. To bad you can't schedule love into your schedule. P.S. I might be a bit leary of committment too, I think |
