I'm just trying to show my two the right way. I used to take my girls on "daddy-daughter" dates (although my 11 year-old rolls her eyes at the mere thought of such, now). But we'd hang at the mall, and I buy em pretzels, or even flowers if they wanted. the idea being that I don't want them overly impressed when some future suitor does likewise. I want them to think "my daddy showed me how I'm supposed to be treated and while I appreciate what you've done, I really expect proper treatment." ... of course, this all assumes these future would-be suitors don't meet with a mysteriously tragic and unfortunate end. :p |

I appreciate it and encourage it. I am a firm believer that people will only treat you how you allow them to and if you tell your mate that you appreciate chivalry, they will respond, if they are into your needs. My husband is great at chivalry. So all bruthas are not without chivalry, some just need help knowing our needs and likes. But I also believe it should go both ways like in A Bronx Tale. The woman should reach over on unlock the door or open the door for her man as he did for her. Reciprocity goes a long way in a relationship. :) |

I was Courted several times by chivalrous suitors. Know what? I think I took it for granted because that's just expected from me and mine. |
I completely agree! My boyfriend is very conscientous and considerate but he does forget sometimes. When I remind him that I really appreciate it, he goes all out. I think men like the praise that we give. Also, reciprocity is a must! :)
