No mention of Thin Mints?

Thin Mints are a registered trademark of GSUSA (Girl Scouts USA)

And the song is from Troop Beverly Hills, a Shelly Long movie that was supposed to be based on the Campfire Girls, not the Girl Scouts.

And to still be a member of the Girl Scouts, you had to have a lifetime membership, or pay dues every month. I just got my lifetime membership card, after saving for a year. Now I can say that I've been a Girl Scout since Kindergarten and will be all of my life.

ETA: I meant year, dues are paid by the year.

Me too! I have been a Girl Scout since I was 7 years old (the youngest you could be to join back in the dark ages!!)

We gave each of our daughters a life membership when they turned 18.

I wish Boy Scouts did the same thing, but they don't.

I thought the Boy Scouts got lifetime memberships only if they were Awarded their Eagle Scout rank? Or does my Dad pay dues every year?

The whole thing is freaking ridiculous. And who suffers? The little girls.

The Girl Guide (i.e. Canadian) cookies are now made by Dare, but they were formerly made by Nabisco, who, if you trace the "lineage" through, is part of good ole' RJ Reynolds (yes, the tobacco company). So, yes, in theory, the Girl Guides were in bed with the devil, but no one really seemed to care. I have no idea why they switched to Dare but it was NOT because of the RJ Reynolds thing. If someone wants to look around www.girlguides.ca, I am sure you can find out more.

Sigh......

Nabisco is no longer a part of RJ Reynolds... And RJ Reynolds is not the devil...

Pays dues every year. I asked about life membership and the response was (and I quote) "No, we don't do that, because if you don't work out for whatever reason, we can just refund your yearly dues and get rid of you".

My husband is an eagle too :)

I called today, and left my name and number on the voicemail of the E.D. She'll be back in the office on monday the 8th. The cookie sale for them is over (that's what the receptionist said). And she really couldn't give me any more info. I offered to donate my money or whatever those girls need if possible. I guess I'll get more info on Monday and I'll post what I find out.
