Happy Valentine's Day, y'all!
|
I've been bitter all week about vday (I've just seen lots of couples in the streets displaying exhuberant PDA-yuck!) But I'm ok with it now.
I'm going to an art gallery, then dinner then a spoken word slam. Its a perfect date, except its with a female coworker. And because were both awkward, I said I would dress up and make it more official. I've got no awkward vday stories. Oh wait. Senior year of hs, I asked my math teacher to be my valentine. He said yes. And we were both serious, despite the law saying that kinda thing could get him fired. |

You cannot drop that little bomb and then run off! TELL US THE STORY! |
Haha...awkward Valentine stories...KSigRC will probably remember this one...
One of my college girlfriends (actually, the one directly before I started dating my current wife) went with me to a fraternity Valentine's date party. For some unknown reason she freaked out at the date party and ran out of the house, crying hysterically. One of my buddies tried to chase after her for me but she was too quick. When he got back to the house, he said "Sorry buddy, I couldn't catch her - on the plus side, she was wearing heels, so maybe she fell somewhere along the way!" Obviously, our relationship didn't last much longer, haha. |

I guess there's no reason for us to become Facebook friends, then. |

And I can't really tell the story on here. But let's just say I know my calculus. ;) |

This sounds so inappropriate. On another note: I got flowers from my mom today! |
That's adorable! And so sweet!

Omg... I feel so terrible...
A little back story first... My dad has been with the company he works with for 30+ years and as a result has a lot vacation time. Also, his position allows him to do a good portion of his work at home, away from work. My parents are starting to get close to retirement, ESPECIALLY my dad. Heck, the way I see it, his brain has already been there the past few years. When my parents first got engaged, my dad took my mom to Puerto Rico to meet his parents and other family who were living there. Although my dad spent many of his summers as a kid in PR, he always thought he'd spend the rest of his life in Chicago. But after that first visit to Puerto Rico with my dad, my mom knew that someday she wanted to own a house there. My dad started to think that was a pretty good idea too. In fall of '07 their dream came true and they bought a nice little home in Puerto Rico. Ever since then they've been making trips 2-4 times a year, enjoying the house, decorating, and making it feel like home. As I mentioned before my dad has a lot of vacation time and doesn't have to be at the office to work. So January 30 he left for Puerto Rico and is planning on coming home Feb 24. My mom doesn't quite have the flexibility he has, but was still able to take off for two weeks. She came back home on Thursday, while my dad is staying in Puerto Rico, with my parents good friends. My mom was mentioning to me that she wished my dad was home with her today, it being Valentine's Day and all, but my mom's not a super sentimental person when it comes to things like that, so she really wasn't too upset. Just a few minutes ago I get a call from my dad. He said Happy V-Day and all, and then out of nowhere he goes "I made a huge mistake" and just breaks down into tears! I was like "Dad whats wrong??" And he's all, "I can't believe I'm not with your mother today, I shouldn't have stayed longer with out her, I feel so terrible!" I had no idea what to say, I've never heard my dad like that!! I mean, my dad can be a very sentimental guy, (he cried when the White Sox won the World Series...I mean in his defense it was more so cause he wished HIS dad could have seen it, but still...hehe) but I never heard him so upset, I felt terrible! I told him it was okay, and suggested maybe he have flowers sent to our house or something. He composed himself after about 30 seconds, but I could tell he was still sad. I called my mom after I got off the phone with him, and I was like... "Uh mom, have you talked to dad recently?" And she's like "A little while ago, why what's up?"...."Well, I just got off the phone with him, and he was really upset that he wasn't with you today, and well, he got a bit...emotional." My mom started to laugh, and said "Oh no! I guess I must have layed the guilt on him TOO well". Like I said before, my mom isn't the kind of person who gets hung up on Valentine's Day, but she aparently had been teasing my dad about it a little, and he didn't understand that she wasn't serious. She felt really bad after that. Poor Dad. At least I know where I get my sensitive side from!! |

Today...
well...it was a good bday... Family gathered to celebrate my grandmom... Lunch at my mother's house. Got a very special present (pic coming later) along with too much chocolate (about to go into diabetic shock!) Now about to head out to dinner with the loved one, heh! |
today has been a great day!
My kids got valentine chocolates and cards from hubby and I. My hubby got me a gift card to Dillard's and a bouquet of 1 dozen red roses and half a dozen lillies! I watched the kids play soccer and visited my mom in the hospital. Now I'm watching Spongebob :) |
Prepare for the double post.

After I spent V-day furious when I found out the guy I was dating was engaged, I swore I'd never spend another V-day with a guy. Every one with a guy previous to that one had been horrible, but that one took the cake. I've kept my promise and haven't had a bad holiday ever since. |
