yeah...and keep in mind prices are a lot cheaper during summer months when 70% of the students are gone looking for subletters.

Actually, it wasn't. I live my boyfriend and most sublets are for single rooms. We were paying his full rent ... far cheaper than two rooms anywhere else!

(and today it probably doesn't retail for much more... )

Shoot, there are houses in Brooklyn that are worth the same amount, if not, more than that. I have an aunt in Ditmas Park section of Brooklyn whose next door neighbors sold their home for over $750,000.00. :eek: :eek:

The houses that are a few blocks away from me go for the same price.

I think that I am going to stay where I am. I really can't afford to buy a new place with these crazy prices.

Fee Fee, I know. Brooklyn is expensive. Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights have been for a long time, but now Ft. Greene and DUMBO are up there, too. :eek:

1 bedroom rent: well on capus it's 750 a month to share a bedroom in the on campus apartments with no food or anything... off campus I think it's anywhere from 1200 on up...

2 Average income.... 22, 272


3) Average house cost 404,500 and that is for a NOT NICE neighborhood... (the building across from me just sold for a million dollars.....)

DUMBO will definitely be expensive b/c of location itself. Even sections like Bedford-Stuyvesant, Flatbush and Crown Heights are getting to be expensive. Like you said, Brooklyn is becoming pricey. I have a friend who owns a 4 bedroom house in Long Island and his mortgage is about $1200 a month. That's the rent for a 2 bedroom apt in some parts of Brooklyn.

Something's wrong with this picture. Besides, it's not like salaries have increased for people either to justify the high cost of living in New York.

I'm from Toronto and if Ottawa is the 3rd most expensive city in Canada, I'm pretty sure Toronto is #2 (or possibly #4...I don't know how expensive Montreal is). I'm positive Vancouver is #1.

Anyway, the cost of a 1 br. apt. will probably run you anywear between 800/month - 2000/month depending on which part of Toronto you're living in (and I am talking about Toronto...not the GTA...not those people who think they live in Toronto...like the people from Mississauga).

The rest I'm not too sure about.
