Not within SAI, but I think it'd be awesome for an SAI to name her daughter Rose.

Actually, I've always loved that for a middle name. Nice and subtle, too
That is my middle name :)

At least one PiPhi I know has a cat named Carrie, after Carrie Chapman Catt. (She was a pioneer women's suffragist and a member of Pi Phi.)

Doesn't that just roll off the tongue?

With a middle name of "Dorcus," your daughter will never be taunted in school.

Jennie Nicol, M.D.
Libbie Brook Gaddis
Clara Brownlee Hutchinson
Ada Bruen Grier
Emma Brownlee Kilgore
Fannie Thomson
Margaret Campbell
Jennie Horne Turnbull Rosa Moore
Nancy Black Wallace
Inez Smith Soule
Fannie Whitenack Libbey

I actually really like some of the Pi Phi founders' names. I don't see me naming my daughter "Fannie", but Clara Brownlee and Emma Brownlee would be really pretty first/middle names. I like Ada too.

I would name my daughter Isabella (founder) :)

My sister-in-law's old roommate in NYC named her dog KayDee... She was a Kappa Delta at U. of Flordia...

Well I have "nicknames". When I found out one of my sisters in LA was pregnant, I named the baby "Baby Phi"

When I found out she was having a girl, I named it Forget-Me-Not Ivy...so that is the baby's nickname.

She is due next month and has YET to have a name picked out. :D

DORCUS!

My Great, Great Grandmothers Name! She was married to Wyatt Earps Fathers Brother!:)

Only Dorcus I ever heard about, very interesting!:D

starang21 04-03-2004 06:27 PM

dorcus?

what the hell? can that name even be traced back to anything?

Sistermadly 04-03-2004 06:32 PM

I know a girl named Dorcas.. and I think it's a greek name.

Since no AGD has mentioned it yet...

Out of our 11...

Marguerite Shepard
Estelle Shepard Beswick
Flora Knight Mayer
Georgia Dickover
Georgia Otis Chipman
Mary Louise Snider
Jennie Titus Smith Morris
Ethel Brown Distin
Grace Mosher Harter
Edith MacConnell Hickok
Emily Helen Butterfield

I've always liked the names Emily and Georgia. Marguerite is beautiful too...and my middle name's Grace (even though that has nothing to do with my Founders ;) ).

The name Dorcas is Biblical - she's mentioned in the New Testament, particularly in the book of Acts, as one of the leaders of the early church.

It's also the same name as Tabitha, unless I have that mixed up with another name. I like both Tabitha and Dorcas!

I could easily see a ZTA giving their child the middle name Zeta.

I could also see myself giving any future daughter the middle name Campbell.

It's not only my maiden name, but it is also a name of one of our founders: Mary Campbell Jones Batte.

Frances is also a middle name possibility as it is a founder's name and my mother's middle name.
