I'm right there with you! Phoenix is close enough for me to drive, so I'm totally there in 2 years!

Wish I could have gone to Chicago though! Just too much hassle this year. I want to see pictures, so someone better bring a digital camera!

GeekyPenguin 06-04-2004 10:53 AM

I'll bring a camera, don't you worry! :)

By 2006, I should be finished with my masters, so I may be able to make it out to Phoenix, even though it's even farther away than Chicago.

I'm sad that I cannot go this year, too. I was looking forward to going and getting to meet all of y'all so much!

I hope that all of y'all who are able to attend have a blast! :)

I don't know, I thought Waco was the 5th level of Hell. ;) (J/k, Annie!)

I'm getting pretty pumped up for Chicago, even though I'll only be there for two days...and I'm going shopping for new clothes tonight! :D

I'm starting to think you may be onto something there! Of course, I am just kidding or maybe I'm not ;)

Hopefully, I will finish up my masters in May of 2006, which means I will be moving somewhere (read as: a place in which I can be gainfully employed) around then, too. If I had my choice, I would choose to move back towards the Atlantic Ocean, which would mean Phoenix would be further away than Chicago.

There's a part of me that would like to be in a big city, but there's also a big part of me that would like to settle in Athens and work at UGA. Enough of my grandiose life plans for now, though ;)

OK, I don't care how much Convention costs in 2006, I will definitely be there! I had a fantastic time and will say more later when I'm not completely exhausted, but I got to meet (or at least put a face to a name) to a lot of GC Gamma Phis, including...
  • kk_gphib_01
  • GammaPhiBabe
  • SmartBlondeGPhB
  • GPhiBLtColonel
  • navane

...and probably many more that I did not realize. I sat with two Loyola girls at lunch one day and I know there are a few of them on here.

Anyway, Convention is a fabulous experience and you should all go.

Here, here!

A truly amazing experience. And I truly think I have never seen so many Coash and Dooney bags in one place. So many beautiful sisters. Winning the Convention banner signed by the International Officers wasn't too shabby either.

Initiation was amazing. Confirmed Conventioneers was a blast as well. I want to be Miss Mary Jane when I'm in my in a wheelchair with 28 Conventions too! And the Pink Carnation banquet..wow!

I'll be in Arizona!

SmartBlondeGPhB 06-28-2004 09:05 PM

Yes, this convention was a lot of fun. Too bad we weren't able to get together as a group though but it was great to see so many sisters.

gphiangel624 06-29-2004 01:44 AM

I am SOOO jealous of all of you who got to go!!! I haven't had a chance to talk to my local sisters that went to see what they thought of it, but can anyone that went tell me if Delta Lambda won or got recognition for any chapter awards?

And I want to see pictures still!

GPhiBLtColonel 07-03-2004 12:31 AM

It was really hard to read the Awards slides during awards night -- they had the Honorable Mentions listed but the font was teensy and the acoustics were not the greatest if you were seated at a table in the far corners like some of us were! The list of winners and honorable mentions were in the awards brochure which is downstairs at the moment (I am snuggled in my bed using my laptop)....I will check it tomorrow and post OK?

Gotta toot our horn a moment here: Our little alumnae chapter - the Atlanta Southern Crescent Alumnae Chapter -- won the Chicago Award (essentially the best small alum chapter) and the Alum Panhel Cooperation Award!! We are just a little over 4 years old so we feel pretty stoked! We also got the Scrapbook honorable mention award too.

I am already looking forward to Phoenix 2006!

gphiangel624 07-05-2004 11:52 AM

I asked my chapter advisor and she said we got Honorable Mention for Chapter Advisory Board, which is what we got at the 2002 convention as well. I'm glad, but still a little miffed... our advisory board works so hard and there's not much we get for recognition other than convention... oh well, there's always 2006... and now that I'm officially part of the advisory board, our chances should be improved this year!

GPhiBeachbum 07-09-2004 05:53 PM

convention

i know convention is over already, but i'm interested to know - in your chapters, who goes to convention? can anyone who shows interest go? i really want to go, next summer will be my last summer as an undergrad, and at my chapter only exec board goes. it's never opened up to anyone except for exec board. am i allowed to go anyway?

kk_bama 07-09-2004 05:59 PM

Anyone can go, not just Exec. But you'd probably have to pay your own way there.

The next Convention is in Arizona in 2006. Next year will be all of the Regional Leadership Conferences, which are fun as well. (c:

My chapter always sends our President as delegate, plus our chapter advisor and whoever else wants to go. I went (I'm AVP) and our Panhellenic Delegate went as well. If it's close by, a lot of chapters will send their entire Exec plus more.
